The tankie try-not-to-be-a-raging-class-reductionist-queerphobe challenge: impossible.
I always got the sense when talking to class reductionist tankies that they were simply thinly veiling their bigotry and the “no war but class war” was just a way they could try to appeal to others while redirecting away from their own abhorrent beliefs. Just another example that tankies aren’t really that different from MAGAts.
They want to bring together the working class of the left and the right but only on the social terms of the right since they know they can’t challenge their bigotry and still win their votes. So instead they want us to shut up about our struggle for rights and only mention what they deem the “correct” struggle.
ye boy, easy to think sexual/race/ethnicity/religious identity issues are just a distraction when you are not the target of any of the social stigma, are not affected by the raging hatred, are not also under the thumb of yet another systemic ill, and not a target of any of the violence this brings forth. Are these issues a part of class warfare? At the end of the day, yes. Does that mean they aren’t real, or even a less immediate concern for the people affected by this specific aspect of class warfare? Of course not.
There are trans people on the internet saying we should resist universal health care because some countries have shown hesitation when it comes to covering youth transitioning.
I’m here for these people but this proposal is stupid beyond belief. Unfortunately the identity-obsessed sometimes fight for this kind of absolute non-starter of an issue and it is in fact actively harming the greater good.
What portion of the population do the people making these claims account for?

No, the raging against lgbtq+ is a distraction. The people asking to be recognized, be able to marry or legally change their name and gender are usually sincere. Since their demands have no bearing whatsoever on others the general answer to these demands should have been an immediate approval. Getting people worked up so they oppose “the trans agenda” and become violent against the trans, is a distraction, and for the people who push this, the fact that real people get hurt for the fake outrage is just icing on the cake.
I mean, to a point. Genuine bigotry has existed forever, and still exists today. If you think the only reason people in power go after minorities is some sort of tactical decision, you give them way too much credit. Most of these people hate people who differ from them in one way, or another, and want to force their world view on everyone. That is where the thought behind their movements ends. But, this is rarely how I see it framed from the “only class war” people. The vast majority of the time I see this argument brought up, it is people telling people supporting minority groups that this is fake and they are are stupid.
Trans people make a GREAT enemy.
There’s not a lot of them, so the average asshole probably doesn’t know any, which makes it easy to dehumanize them.
They are inherently trying to “look different”, which means they’re hiding amongst all the good and honest people. Your neighbor could be a trans person!
Most of them are young, and as a result of shitty policies, have mental health problems. So they’re not individually scary. It’s always nice to have a weak enemy.
But they’re all in it together, so they must be destroyed for being too strong!
Feel free to replace “trans person” with the enemy du jour. Jews, communists, gay people, pick your flavour of hate.
Also making rules against trans women is apparently a great excuse to force women out of their supposed safe spaces and their pants.
Chasers love TERFs. No better way to keep transfemme marginalized and vulnerable.
