Having a three day weekend every week is so nice. I don’t think I could ever go back to 5/8 schedule. That’s despite the fact that I still work 40 hour weeks. It kinda sucks to work 10 hours per day (and I’d much rather do 8), but it’s worth it to have an entire extra day.

When I started my company, I decided a 4day/40hour work week would be best, but pretty quickly I realized that those extra two hours a day are usually wasted anyway. Now I do a 4day/32hour work week, and I’ve been a lot more productive.

Yeah, we do 12 hour shifts on a continental pattern and just finishing right now means I’ve got to grab a shower / food / minor chores and it feels like I don’t get time after work to even think.

However I love my long weekends off and won’t have to go back in until Tues night, giving me a three and half weekend and like it states in the article allows you to take up hobbies (some of being weather dependent) at your choosing. I could never work M-F ever again even thou the hours do suck a little. But, there is also the bonus of simply booking two shifts off and I get a whole week off.

Jumping on the topic of popular ideas that’ve worked - I have family that works eight 9-hour days, one 8-hour day, and chooses either a Monday or Friday off. This is every two weeks. It still squeezes in 40 hours, and he likes it better than all 8-hour days.

Meanwhile my job where it’s pretty much literally a sweatshop during the summer: no we can’t try 4 day weeks just for the summer either, we need to ship product 5 days a week…

We sell expensive as fuck seats for rich people’s yachs. Yeah… Totally a need society couldn’t stand waiting another day for.
