Gay Republicans are some of the stupidest people on the planet.
Me and some other gay friends were hanging out one time, and a new guy that was having drinks with us mentioned he was Republican. All of us just stopped and stared.
Turns out he’s a pharmacist that is anti-vaxx, amongst other things. Fucking idiot
Being an anti-vaxxer as a pharmacist or doctor should get your liscense to practice/dispense drugs revoked.
Women republicans are in the same boat
I met a super prochoice woman once who was a republican. She said she knows her party is wrong on the abortion issue, and it really was the most important thing to her, but she will always be a republican no matter what.
I really was baffled, and still am, at this stance. Trying to figure out the logical consistency in conservatives is a joke

The Eagles aren’t going around claiming they’re Super Bowl Champions.
and it really was the most important thing to her
Ok this really perplexes me. I actually understand the other people’s reasoning. If you happen to agree with the Republicans on many issues, like if the Logcabin people are anti-choice, anti-immigration, pro–crony capitalism, and maybe those other issues are more important to you than the one where you disagree. In that case it does actually make sense to be a Republican.
But to turn around and say, like this woman does, that you disagree with them on the most important issue and still say you could never vote anyone else? That completely boggles the mind.
Makes sense once you realize it’s the “fuck you, got mine” attitude that’s at the core of republican voters. If/when this women needs an abortion she will get it in a heartbeat because only justified abortion is her abortion. If anyone else needs an abortion - fuck them, why do I care?
Lack of empathy is the key factor.
The hypocrisy of republican women is absolutely nothing new (“I think women are property except me because reasons ¯_(ツ)_/¯” and “only my abortion should be allowed”) but I’m a little fascinated by the republican women who are like “we should be property!” I’m sure i’m just falling short, but it’s hard to think of a group that seemingly consistently believe they deserve fewer rights.

Stockholm syndrome.
I guess she was trying to change them from within? By… consistently voting Republican in every election?
I honestly think this is the right answer. My impression was she was very passionate on the issue, and she believed liberals were a lost cause (thanks right wing media) and the smart people on the right with her would listen to reason. Just another victim to the right wing propaganda machine unfortunately (but I must say I do know quite a few far left women today who years ago were pretty far up the republican parties ass, so there is hope for some)
Politics is kinda like being a fan of a sports team for many people. If my team blows the game I’m still a fan of the team. If some players on the team suck, sure I might want those players traded, but I still root for my team even if they aren’t.
And when we’re talking about being a fan of sports there’s nothing wrong with that. Sports are more fun when you’re rooting for a team, even when we know it’s fairly arbitrary which team you root for. But once you’ve chosen your team, you stick with that team otherwise it ruins all the fun. And people respect you for sticking with your team even when they have a bad season.
Of course politics isn’t sports, and shouldn’t be treated that way. But people do. Like wanting the team to trade the shit players but sticking with them even if they don’t, people may want their party to change their stance on some issues but will stick with them even if they don’t. They think sticking with the team, no matter what, is admirable. But unlike sports, the team you root for isn’t an arbitrary thing that doesn’t matter, choosing to stick with a party no matter what has consequences.
Gay republican antivax pharmacist. Simply amazing
Instant-game: Trying to one-up this.
- Has also a background in biology and is an evolution denier.
Flatearther astronaut?
Don’t usual astronauts have to learn all about celestial mechanics and whatnot? Sounds like the master class to mental gymnastics.
How about a creationist-paleontologist?
Eh, I’d give it a spin.
“What you got there, Sandy? Ah, another cow-bone that didn’t make it on the ark and got encrusted. Hold on… UMM UMM UMM UMM UMM, there you go, original shape.”
Yeah, gay people are just people like everyone else. There are just as many brain dead people as any other group.
Sure, but what makes it even more mind-boggling is it literally goes against them.
You can attribute most republican ideology to egoism and hate for people different from you, but if YOU are the different person it’s just inconceivable. Feels like watching mice building a mousetrap.
I know what you mean, but there are Millions of poor white people that vote Republican.
How can you be that ignorant? I guess he’s an outlier on a bell curve?
outlier on a bell curve
AKA a bell end.
DAMN! Missed opportunity, thanks for picking up the slack
Propaganda. Lots and lots of propaganda.
You’d be surprised how many medical people are that ignorant. I work with first responders, and the covid years utterly destroyed my soul. So, so many friends and coworkers in that field are antivax… People I care about and thought rather highly of. And literally every single one is a trumper to boot.
Gays can be idiots too. They are not immune from that.

American Dad had an episode on this in 2006, called Lincoln Lover.
And it looks like things haven’t changed! 😱
Maybe he mixed up anti vax and anti vag?
Lol I love it. That joke is going in my mental collection
I love how being wrong absolutely everything seems to be a package deal nowadays. He probably thinks the earth is flat too.

Pretty easy to imagine really.
Republicans are republicans because either
A. they are greedy with the money that they have (or imagine they will have in the future)
B. they are super religious and socially conservative (anti-lgbt etc.)
C. they are gun nuts
D. they are racist
or
E. they are a combination of the above
For some people (like the gay conservative group mentioned here), reason A is the most important of all reasons to choose a political party; they also discount the fact that very many people in the republican party have B as an important reason for being republicans themselves. Until moments like this that is…
What’s crazy, from a European point of view, is that they act as if Democrats are a bunch of leftists who would redistribute their hard-earned money, when they would be considered economically right-wing here in Europe. The disconnect is insane “I’ve got mine, so I’m just going to ignore all the GOP reactionary bullshit, 'cause, you know, capitalism and small government and America fuck yeah.”
In America the Democratic party is made up of several sub groups. There are ‘Progressive’ Democrats, like Bernie Sanders, and ‘Conservative’ Democrats, like Joe Manchin. Largely the Democrats in America fall under what most people would consider to be Neoliberals.
Due to America’s voting system third parties are often better off running under the banner of one of the two large parties, siding with the one they closest align with.
People tend to strawman the entire party based on their most radical sects.
People tend to strawman the entire party based on their most radical sects.
The extremisim that a political party is unwilling to stop says a lot about the party’s principles, I’d think.
which is why the Overton window always drifts deosil. Neolinerals are right leaning enough for them to lose their balance and take a step right every few years.
I’d argue it’s actually shifting left, and bumping neoliberal views left, and this has been happening since Clinton
Arguably since Bush 1 since had more of a social focus than Reagan.
The “bumping” is what you would describe is “taking a step right.” The more rightward neoliberal views aren’t a new right direction, but a refinement of classical ones (either through adaptation or loss of that part of the neoliberal base to R). E.g. libertarians should align with neolibs, but generally align R, largely due to social policy, they were lost via leftward shift.
Sounds like wishful thinking to me.
Implying I like all of these changes is a bit of a reach. Social issues sure, but Biden is too protectionist for my tastes. Free Trade and open borders please
Anyone with half a brain sees it that way, which obviously excludes a large swath of Americans 😅.
i was a right libertarian at one time.
The more research i did, right libertarianism just didn’t sit well with me. I couldn’t reconcile their politics because i have empathy. I wish i was lying. These are selfish fucks who twisted the word to fit their needs.
There’s also rich white gays who only join/participate for social appearances.
“Did you hear John is gay?”
“Oh yes, but it’s okay, he’s a Log Cabin”
And then no one knows who you vote for, so it’s whatever.
Sounds weird but I assure you this happens.
Though it seems that B through D threaten A increasingly more. Seems that people in the A camp would be giving up on the Republican party, what with them risking economic disaster towards the end of advancing their other interests.
deleted by creator
It’s a bit of a sensationalized way of putting it.
You also forgot the Libertarian group who see them as the slighlely lesser of two evils. To be fair those would be more Republican voters rather than card carrying party members.
They’re idiots then, if they don’t see the Republicans marching us all towards fascism

There are plenty of gun owners that vote progressive fwiw, I say this because “gun nut” reads as “gun owner” to many, and understandably so.
It’s fair. I don’t know of anyone outside the US with such an affinity for guns that they get offended when you mention anything about gun control, be it conservative or progressive.
Bragging about your firearms raises suspicion and is seen in bad taste where I live. I wish USians could see how weird their gun fever is to outsiders.
It’s like having a branch of the KKK for black people.
After the pandemic, I wouldn’t put it past anyone at this point
It’s like moths to a flame, conservatism attracts so many people who conservatism also persecutes. For example, women: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/8/26/2189101/-TPUSA-s-Cuteservatives-answer-the-important-questions-about-dating-while-conservative
In a conservatives mind, they’re just one step removed from the trans people they want to kill.
When bdsm isn’t quite enough, there’s always active political disenfranchisement. Oppress me harder, daddy.
It’s the political version of findom: pogrom!
As if the term “conservative” still describes the Republican Party lol
Thats the wildest thing about American politics to a great deal of the rest of the world. The 2 party system there is so rigidly aligned, what the hell does a gun loving gay man do on polling day?
Vote Democrat. Plenty Democrats are just fine with guns like things are now, others are fine with guns but support things like background checks, waiting periods, and red flag laws so crazy and/or angry people will have reduced ease of access. That you think Democrats don’t have a large gun-loving constituency is a testament to the power of Republican propaganda
When I see so many blue state legislatures passing nonsense gun laws like bans on “high capacity” magazines and “assault weapon” bans, I start to think that the Dems maybe don’t support gun rights.
I think you’re going to find a large number of people who think these are common sense laws rather than “nonsense.” Regarding assault rifles, a number of the states that have “banned” them will even still allow you to have one with a license.
Assault rifles and large capacity magazines constitute a very small minority of guns and gun equipment in the US, and equating these two issues with “not supporting gun rights” is again giving in to Republican propaganda. In reality, there are millions of people who support gun rights and who also support limitations on weapons that can be used to kill large numbers of people at once
Assault rifles also constitute a miniscule percentage of gun crime, and yey they’re still the specter that legislators go for. To me that just says the people wanting to legislate away our rights aren’t informed enough to make these decisions. Thus they spout nonsense
The issue banning or limiting assault rifle ownership is trying to address is mass murders. Banning assault rifles certainly isn’t “legislating away your rights,” though, because there are still a shit ton of guns you’d still be able to own. By your logic, your rights are being infringed already by not being allowed to own a machine gun, or a grenade launcher, or even a tank on up. In reality, there are no rights that are completely unlimited. For example, see the limitations on every other right outlined in the Bill of Rights. As a society, we determine where that line is drawn to support our social contract. A majority of people wanting to draw the line slightly further in one direction than you prefer isn’t “legislating away your rights.”
Again, the vast majority or mass murders are committed with handguns. Those stats that say we’ve had more shootings than days bin the year always include handgun murders.Banningg assault rifles won’t noticeably decrease the number of mass shootings.
Democrats recognize there is a middle ground between “the government forcibly takes everyone’s guns” and “I don’t care how many children die from being shot, there ain’t no way I’m giving up my gun!”
Republicans don’t.
Vote third party, because if they get even like 5% in a general election they qualify for federal funding and might get taken more seriously. Sincerely, a trans girl who likes guns and hates that members of the US government will do anything to keep the narrative away from actual discussions on our crumbling infrastructure including pushing fascism and/or blind pacifist dogma but more importantly: consistently framing human rights not only as dangerous BUT secondary to the economy
Vote third party, because if they get even like 5% in a general election they qualify for federal funding and might get taken more seriously.
The Reform Party proves this statement false, as do the Green and Libertarian Parties, which regularly achieve over 5% in down-ballot races.
In our system of voting, if you’re anywhere left of center, a vote for a 3rd party candidate is a vote for the Republican. If we had a parliamentary system, or if you have ranked-choice voting where you live, sure, vote 3rd party. Otherwise, you need to be voting for the Democrat, because the very real alternative is so much worse.
I mean, you’re concerned about our crumbling infrastructure, so you should be stoked about what Biden got passed last year, right? I want more of that, and in order to have more of that we need a Democratic House and more Democrats in the Senate
I agree we need to push for ranked-choice voting. But to defend Biden is to defend a segregationist who fell asleep during debates, killed M4A and refuses to do anything about trump’s record-breaking fundraising/ongoing attempt at a comeback- I have no confidence at all in democrats, they want RFK or Michelle Obama to run next we are fucking doomed if they’re our only hope.
“no confidence at all in democrats, they want RFK”
Not a single real Democrat wants RFK Jr. to run. He’s such an obvious spoiler candidate, openly funded by the right wing. C’mon, do better.
Well, RFK aside, I HAVE gotten fundraising emails about if I support Michelle Obama and pete buttigieg as presidential candidates (awful choices as well imo) ntm ones asking If Trump should be acquitted so pardon me if I’m still distrustful of the “left” side of the absolute creepshow that is our government
From who? Are you reading your spam folder? No one is running against Biden seriously.
I don’t even want to know what rags you are reading or morons you are listening to to believe any of that.
here’s another example of propaganda led group think. biden literally did those things as well as vote against gay marriage and gays serving in military & gov’t and so much more that you can see for yourself w a 30 second google search but you and most of the brain dead can’t be arsed to bother and promote this kind of very easily disprovable willful ignorance.
I don’t read “rags”, I read blogs and comments because they’re the only news sources that aren’t owned by billionaires. Sorry my opinions aren’t what you want to hear.

You’re reading bullshit. Some rube repeating what someone else said is not news.
Convince your conservative friends to vote third party. They need to realize that by allying themselves with literal Nazi’s and other domestic terrorists they are corrupting themselves probably irreversibly. Our grandparents and now great-grandparents generations fought literal Nazi’s and decided that they didn’t belong in this world as acceptable people.
They’ve gotten federal funding and continue to act like clowns. The sad fact of the matter is that they don’t care about winning. They don’t invest heavily in Congressional races. What’s a Green president going to do with 0 Green Senators or Representatives?
They aren’t the savior you’ll looking for. If you want things to improve, it’s pretty much only Democrats. Politics isn’t dating, it’s business.
Third parties are not feasible (at all!) in the US electoral system. In fact, third parties are nothing more than legal voter suppression. Convince the gullible to vote for a third party rather than your opponent, well you just eliminated a vote for your opponent.
If you want something other than Democrat or Republican, first you have to change the system. To do that you have to organize and form a large enough block of voters that you can have influence over the system. If you’re not doing that and just promoting third parties, all you’re doing is aiding in voter suppression.
But that level of organization takes a lot of effort, and I can’t blame anyone for not being able to devote the time and effort to do that. So failing a large scale organization effort, the best option is to vote for candidates in the Primary that are closer to your views, and simply vote to keep the worst option out of power in the general.
If you’re voting for a third party you’re not doing anything. If you’re promoting a third party, you’re effectively engaging in voter suppression.
I’m guessing you don’t have favorable thoughts about direct action either? Voting doesn’t DO ANYTHING, the electoral college does. So if you think of polling as a gauge of public sentiment… (and what the hell else is it?) Regardless, (I guess also implying you consider the U.S government to be corrupt as all hell, like anybody with eyes and ears and more than three brain cells would-) It’s indisputably imperative the people hold fire to the feet of the establishment on both sides and make that distrust known at these polls, especially. But really now, voter suppression? Come the fuck on I’m not running for president, really weird you felt the need to write 4 paragraphs just to accuse me of that.
Sure the EC sucks, but it’s not going away by voting for a third party which will get zero EC votes. You gotta have a real organized effort for something like that.
A much more significant factor than the EC is voter turnout. 2016 had the lowest voter turnout in decades. That’s the election that Trump got voted into office.
With just a five percent increase in voter turnout among young people, the Republican party is done. Finished. Abortion rights enshrined in federal law, student debt cancelled, real spending to fight climate change, rights of trans people (like you!) no longer under threat.
The GOP knows this, so they make efforts to discourage young people from voting. “Both sides are then same, don’t bother voting, if you do vote, vote for a third party.” It’s a strategy. A strategy that you’re on the internet repeating, against your own self interests.
You’re not running for president, but you’ve fallen for a scam being done by those that are. And you’re propagating that scam. You’re doing exactly what those that are working against your interests want you to do.
Just like “Jews for Hitler”.
That was a thing too.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_German_National_Jews
Or neo-nazi muslims.
Well they consider themselves Republican so they obviously did not care about Republicans fucking things up until it directly affected them.
It’s all fun and games until the leopard turns to look at you with a glint in its eye
These leopards be snacking on so many faces its a testament 80 chapters of logcabin can exist before they started chowing.
Typical Republican.
You know that edgy kid whose whole personality is doing the opposite of whatever popular thing is and when you ask them why, they get angry at you and start rambling incoherently like you’re oppressing them for asking?
That’s gay Republicans.
I’ve met them. Ive spoke with them. They frequently have booths at the events I attend. I really don’t know what they stand for besides the opposite of everything and anything.

Are these gay people racists and/or transphobic? Don’t see any other reason why they are republicans.
Maybe they just hate women?
Some people vote rep solely for gun rights. There’s a lot of people like that
I really want to go to one of their conventions and ask them if they’ve ever heard of Ernst Rohm.
This Ernst Röhm?
On 30 June 1934, the entire SA leadership were purged by the SS during an event known as the Night of the Long Knives. Röhm was taken to a prison in Munich and executed on 1 July.
the guy who didn’t just feed his face to a leopard but bred the leopard’s parents, and fed others faces to leopards.
he was even out of the party, but of course Hitler convinced him to come back. I don’t feel sorry for him. I’m incapable of feeling sorry for the log cabin either.
I never went down the rabbit hole like this entry led me down in regards to Hitlers consolidation of power. Their are striking similarities to Trump. I bet this stuff would read like a fantasy novel to him. I was always fairly dismissive of comparisons due to how absurd they sound but like I said, theirs some very striking and concerning similarities. Reading the entry for the night of long knives was chilling.
Check out Behind the Bastards podcast for some more. Robert Evans does a great job making it all digestible and spicy. He and his guests riff on everything, so much so it can get uncomfortable, but that is part of their charm. Here is a surprise rabbit hole episode on Nazis and a what I thought was modern conspiracy
Yes. Read the section “Personal Life and Death”
Reminds me of the blind black klansman skit from Chappelle Show
Divorcez his wife because she was a Nword lover.
Gay people make them feel icky.

Well the old white guys at least
I think they’re really a Masochist group: forcing change from within, in the most painful way
