Lost power for about 90 minutes earlier this morning. That was cool.

I have a battery, and it was even charging up during the outage. But apparently for technical reasons I don’t really understand, it’s not able to power my home during an outage. I got told when I moved in that it should be able to power one or two things to keep the fridge running, but I have no idea how that’s supposed to work, seeing as there’s no power outlet on the battery.

Ok I wish I could help. Something seems wrong there. Like what’s the point of a back up battery system if it doesn’t power anything when mains power is lost. That makes no sense whatsoever.

The battery should somehow back-feed/feed your domestic elec circuits.

I have only helped on a few systems and so no expert. I don’t know the intricacies of it all. But yeah, something doesn’t make sense.

The battery is still useful because it means most nights I don’t draw down any mains power, so it saves me usage costs. It takes two very overcast days in a row to drain the battery at my normal usage. And most days it charges to full with enough time to spare to feed-in to the grid a bit.

I think in an outage there are issues with feeding into the grid because of safety. But I’m not sure on the details.

But yeah I do wish it would at least be able to keep the fridge running. Even if it required me to manually switch it over.

It really should be able to run your fridge. And yes it may need doing manually. I suggest looking into it. Hope you get it working.
