A bit of this, but also the desktop web UI doesn’t mark them as read when you click on the permalink. You need to explicitly mark them as read and I’m too lazy to do that 😬

It’s nothing surprising to me. This is what I assume Reddit was like before heavy moderation of subs many years ago, and what gets on the front page.

/r/trees used to be one of the most popular subreddits and used to frequently show up on /r/all (the ‘frontpage’ back then), followed by GoneWild communities iirc (at least that’s how it felt like, I mean Spez was a moderator for Jailbait after all) I think Lemmy just doesn’t hide it and so it’s easier for people to click on and such.

The reddit admins did give violentacrez, the top mod of r/jailbait and other porn subreddits, a special “pimp daddy” award, so they are all still really gross people, but I just think it’s important to criticize them for what they are actually responsible for.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say I bet even monkeys rub one out to an extra curvy piece of wood from time to time. Especially the ones that have mating seasons.

How much more annoying would humans be if there was an annual “horny teenager” time? Spring break would be something else.

      Let me guess:

The second one is: „Marx is dead“ by admin „God“

But can’t you be on lemmy.ml and follow all the interesting communities from other instances (which might be harder to find, though)?

The only instances that are blocked are porn ones, that’s a thing I don’t miss from reddit tbh, but the swear filter is really dumb. And doesn’t really fucking filters swears, but it’s really dumb regardless, since it’s neither opt-in nor opt-out, it’s just there.

This almost seems like if the “god fraction“ has won…

I know that they had a “no porn” rule, but “no swearing” is new to me. Surely it will be a healthy family-friendly community.

I have no issue with some occasional nudes in my timeline. I could blur or filter it, if I would want to avoid this.

But porn in the web for me is an important part of the “freedom of expression”, therefore I find it anachronistic if some community tries to block / ban this.

Sure, but porn is so easily available that one only needs to explicitly look for it. Meanwhile there was a deluge of fetish communities appearing that every user had to block individually if they didn’t want 10 fart fetish posts on their timeline, so it was a quality of life improvement to block those communities on the server level.

Of course you can get anything online if you go for it. But this kind of occasional nudes in my “all” timeline reminds me of the old Reddit days - and is quite nice as long as it doesn’t become too much.

So far I’ve never seen any fart-fetish community / post in my timeline tbh.

before we had defederated from the porn server, I had blocked

                -Diaper porn

                -huge boobs

                -Celebs

                -Yiff (ifkyk)

                -Ass

                -Anal

                -General NSFW

                -Femboys

                -Lewd Games

                -Rule34

                -Gay furry porn

                -Furry Videos

                -Petplay Yiff

                -feet

                -sapphic hentai

                -sapphic art

                -Sissies

                -Hentai - BDSM

                -GoneMild

                -Grool

                -GoneMildPlus

                -Trans Hydro Hotties

                -Blowjob

and at some point it’s like, could we make porn opt-in instead of playing whack a mole with every niche fetish? Yeah there’s an NSFW option, but that’s more for hiding the images themselves, not ignoring the communities or servers.

I thought that was an exchange between Nietzsche and God, or it used to be. Anyway, I was unaware that the double low-9 quotation mark was even a thing so thanks for that.

These people are pioneers in 3D animation. I once saw one of them animate a video of D.VA being spit-roasted with nothing but a potato and a box of thumbtacks

For real though. I swear, some of those animations are more detailed and well-animated then anything Pixar could produce.

Didn’t they induce actual improvements to Blender code so that they could create these animations more easily and without having to use ruinously priced industry software?

Well, Lemmy users lately are reddit users. These users have been doing their best to turn Lemmy into what they recognize from reddit. And as everyone knows reddit users are porn sick.

I kind of miss those old Usenet days. Being 16 and waiting most of the night for a picture to load was great.

Back when I made sure to download the progressive JPEG, because loading single line top to bottom was hell. Unless there was a chance that the phone would be picked up, then I wanted regular JPEG, because then when I lost connection I still would have most of a picture.

You never knew what you were going to get.

In the early 90s, when I was a teen, I accessed the internet through the computer lab, downloaded tons of porn at a higher rate, uploaded the pics to local BBSes, got a huge ratio, downloaded tons of pirated games and had lots of porn. I was a genius back then. Not so much now.
