Everything I downvoted was because I genuinely do not think it’s good. Like meat is not going to cure cancer.

I actually really like eating meat I just try to life a life that gives others room to enjoy this earth too without mutually destroying it.

Please tell me how I am the asshole :)

If there is no point because it won’t be seen then there would be no negative impact from the downvotes, and punishing someone for downvoting ‘old’ misinformation would be silly.

I downvote misinformation because if someone comes across the community later they are going to see those old posts too. Same reason for downvoting a 5 minute old post as it would for a 5 day old post, misinformation is misinformation.

People don’t go directly in a community. They only interact if they find posts in the all feed and interact with individual posts

            How is a vote spam?

Why isn’t upvoting spam? I have upvoted 10 times as many comments as downvoted, and hundreds of times as many upvotes for posts as comments. Is that spam?

            Do words mean anything anymore?

If the votes on the internet don’t matter - then the downvote brigade shouldn’t care they are excluded

If the votes on the internet do matter - then the downvote brigade is being acknowledged that they don’t like this, and are being given their free time back when they are uninvited from the community.

                Why does the frequency matter?

Is it a ratio to the number of posts?

If I come across a sub with a lot of posts but little engagement should I feel bad for up voting a bunch of them so whoever stumbles across the community next knows someone liked the content?

What if they have 6 posts in the main feed? Should I only up vote one of them to avoid spamming? Do I need to pay more attention to the community and not the post itself to avoid being an upvote spammer?

Should I only upvote a limited number of comments per post or per community?

The whole spam argument makes zero fucking sense outside of multiple people intentionally brigading niche subs, which is bad. An individual voting how they want is completely different from brigading.

Why does the frequency matter? Because that’s part of the definition of spam Try doing this in social media who have anti spam system. You will be prevented from doing more of the similar actions very fast
