    How did the bones last so long? I thought the sea eventually dissolved bones, which is why there are no skeletons around the Titanic, just the shoes they were wearing.

      I learned about this yesterday, I know you left this comment two months ago… There’s a depth in the ocean called the CCD ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbonate_compensation_depth ) where calcium based material dissolves away. If the bones were above this depth, they would’ve survived.
