The US agreed to actually discuss the situation and potentially come to an agreement. Because of that upcoming discussion we’ll delay adding an additional 25% (though the original 25% will remain in place for now). Should that discussion not go well, we’ll just continue with the plan to impose more tariffs.

Sounds reasonable to me. None of us want this trade war. If you’re willing to negotiate an end, we’ll hear you out. That doesn’t mean we’re going to back down.

You can’t trust Trump with any deal. I’m willing to bet they’ll back down from their deal and Ford will have to bring the threat back and negotiate again, etc.

Probably; but it’s a show of good faith that we are actually willing to come to an agreement, and it’s also more opportunity for the US to hang itself on the public stage.

We’ll give you the rope; we’d rather you made a bow with it, but if you want to make a noose that’s your choice.

Because it’s not all of America that we’re against; it’s the current administration and it’s supporters. It’s better to keep the citizens on our side, sympathetic to our problems. Especially when this administration fails and America gets around to rebuilding.

It also looks good from other nations to see we aren’t being unreasonable or cruel, just standing up for ourselves. That will help when it comes to building relationships with those other nations and allow us to strengthen trade elsewhere.

Be the bigger person. It pays off in ways that aren’t always obvious.

Kathy Hochul, even if she is a weasel of a Democrat, is talking with Ford. They are mutually sympathetic in the dislike of Trump and Ford is trying to cut some slack for them too.

So the whole world just hopes they don’t go after them. No one cares about Canada, how many times do they have to show it for people to realize that.

Yup, I was not impressed at all reading the headline on CBC, but this seems to be an olive branch considering the invitation to discuss on Thursday. So reasonable moves here

Krasnov did not say he’d lower the tariffs back down to 25%. He said that Ford is strong man with much millet. Beach party every day!

That’s not how I read this, this seems to be suspending the initial 25% electricity surcharge.

Looking at a few sources, I’m not entirely sure tbh.

Even so; I don’t mind showing a bit of restraint given an opportunity to negotiate an agreement. Helps demonstrate that it’s not the citizens of those states we’re upset with; they’re just caught in the crossfire between us and Washington.

We can always put the tariffs back, and in the meantime we can continue to expand into other markets and strengthen relationships with other nations.

Then impeach, and remove him…their inability to Run a Government with supposed allies, isn’t our problem. Get your shit together and remove him if he’s a loose cannon of stupidity.

There’s no restraint, no respect for others, no compromise, no ability to complete a single thought while speaking, no willingness to reconsider his own choices, no humanity, no compassion, no thought given to how poor people will fair, no idea how to be a man, no inkling how to act appropriately, no understanding how to deal with negative feedback, no humility, no selflessness, no desire to learn facts, no belief in truth, no leadership skills, no idea how not to commit crimes, no understanding of what an oath is, no acceptance of justice for his crimes, and last but not least, no understanding of the Constitution.

The citizens of those states voted for him. I’m sick of blue vs red state. Even the blue states have a high percentage of people who voted for this.

It’s complicated. If the theater involves and end that rolls back tariffs but Trump declaring victory, its fine. Navaro was polite in press. It’s mostly an ego play with Trump. Where Canadian politicians only get elected because they are colonial governors submitted to US empire, selling us out at the end of the play, is a possibility.
