mods seem to be inactive on lemmy.
Maybe they went back to reddit when they forgot why they have left it?
It doesn’t take much. There’s no reports, and nobody has done anything to break rules.
Everything that went wrong with reddit turned me into a passive user. I scroll, but I rarely vote or comment.
Besides, I burnt all the bridges during the protests and by refusing to play nice afterwards. I couldn’t go back if I wanted to, not without jumping through hoops to make a new account and keep it isolated. Fuck reddit, fuck spez. And, fuck r/edc too. I did my best, it wasn’t good enough, so that’s that.
🤜🤛
I know one of the mods irl.
He still keeps an eye on it, but isn’t active on lemmy or reddit as a user currently. When I notice fuckery, I text him to make sure he’s seen any reports.
I did so before typing this up, to make sure I wasn’t blowing smoke up anyone’s ass about it. He said he’ll hop on later and respond to the post directly.
you should become an admin if you’re the one who does the “notice fuckery”?
He checks in, it isn’t him relying on me to watch the C/. It’s just that I’m on lemmy actively, so I’ll notice fuckery before he does his daily report check.
It’s a slow C/, so it isn’t something that needs the kind of constant attention the reddit R/ did.
yes, it’s very slow
r/ was remarkable :(
Yeah, it was.
I was a mod there for a bit. Then I handed the reins to daryll once I realized I didn’t want to mod an r/ that big. Well, it was a bit more complicated than that, but still.
His time there was the best. Aggressive handling of people trying to use the r/ to advertise, quick action to keep civility and topicality steady. Ngl, he could be a tad more strict than absolutely necessary, but it worked.
I was way too laid back to keep up with the amount of fuckery that a mod had to deal with there. When I started as a mod, there was a team. Then everyone just stopped doing anything. It was me, and only me, and I wasn’t up for that, I had irl shit to do lol. So I passed the buck to someone I trusted.
