I tried to watch the Thursday night football recap yesterday and accidentally opened YouTube instead of smarttube. I was shocked. I watched a minute of ads to start and one minute in I had another minute of ads. YouTube was basically unwatchable.

It can make following a story so hard because people with gendered pronouns hang so much of the story on she said that to him and when the pronouns switch mid story even though she is still talking about the same person I am instantly like wow this doesn’t even make sense. How is he now saying stuff to her, I thought he blocked her or something similar.

There was a time that I thought people didn’t understand the consequences. Now I realize that most people are just entirely apathetic.

Alternative take. Fight hard for a promotion, of course if you can get a raise and promotion that is ideal. But usually companies get hung up on money.

Then as soon as you get it start applying to new jobs with that as your title. New jobs will always pay you significantly more for your new better title than the 2k or so you would get from a raise. I used this trick to triple my salary over 6 years, moving through a few jobs and from a receptionist to a Sr manager.

Yeah you forgot deprivation of civil rights, obstruction, and steriod drug dealing. Also they weren’t cheating on college tests, like most people think where you would ask your classmate for an answer or bring a cheat sheet to the test. They literally hired someone else to do the tests for them.

Don’t minimize the misconduct of those who are supposed to be held to a higher standard.

I think it’s this. Mom has watched a ton of true crime mystery or something similar and was hoping her kid would reply with some grizzly details about the particulars of the case. Instead he states the obvious and mom is like “ohhh probably best not to give the kid an infatuation with erotic asphyxiation so maybe I’ll drop it.”

I didn’t find this to be overly dramatic or sensationalized. I enjoy knowing when one of the people I regularly watch are in fact assholes. Note, he didn’t say they were assholes. He merely repeated what they did and called out issues. He said he wouldn’t be covering the channel anymore after their response. Just decent journalism in my opinion.

Thank God. I’ve had watch history off for awhile but still spend too much time sucked into youtubes rabbit holes. Maybe I’ll finally be more productive. If only more tech companies could keep shooting themselves in the foot I might end up with respectable hobbies.

Yes but what if the people choose a terrible representative. We need a system that limits their options to people we choose. Ideally they only get two options we vetted.

But I’m afraid that won’t even be enough, we should come up with a system where the people aren’t directly voting on those representatives but other people will then go and vote on behalf of the people. That way we can divide things so even if the people vote with a majority we can still claim they didn’t get enough electoral votes to win. Since these are next level voters we can call them something like a college of electors. We should also make sure these electors are not distributed equally among the population.

I’m afraid that still wouldn’t be enough for the ruling class to maintain power. Maybe we should also divide their votes into arbitrary lines. We can call them districts. They won’t correspond to any other districts and we can arbitrarily change districts when it’s in our favor.

Even with all that I think we will have to occasionally come up with more measures. Maybe we can jail people for minor crimes more than every other nation in the world and take away their voting rights after they’ve been jailed. We can target specific groups and make new laws that allow us to remove from the system those whose votes would be unfavorable.

Perhaps then and only then will we be a beacon of freedom and hope to all those who wish to be a nation ruled by the people.

Brave has a button right next the task bar they can use to toggle off controls. I know ublock is stupid simple to do that too but the extra step of going to plugins then settings has lost people in my experience.
