I’m an east coaster and fell asleep too early to watch this game. But today made me hate realignment even more. The Apple Cup in particular showed how dynamic the PAC-12 is.
I don’t know about anyone else, but for me this has been my favorite weekend of college football this entire season. Every game has been great. Really living up to the hype.
I have to work for part of today, and normally that would annoy me, but I feel like this week’s slate is pretty meh. A couple of good games, sure, but not one of those days that I’m watching from noon to midnight.
My family is pretty meh on football, I wonder what happens if I turn on Rutgers / Iowa. Time to find out.
Head/desk.
Yes.
On our /c/cfb poll I have Washington at 3, under Michigan and Ohio State. I don’t understand why the press remains so enamored with Georgia.
I would say it’s largely because I’m bad at this, and you’re probably right.
EDIT: I just noticed the Coaches Poll did something similar to me. Of course, the Coaches Poll is often bizarre.
I found today’s poll super hard. My methodology is what it always is: look at the last week’s rankings, look at the results, and vibe my way through it.
The hardest part of this week was when I got to 20, realized I forgot about Oklahoma, and had to figure out the middle again.
I have very low confidence on my picks under the 10 or 11 slot, but based on this week’s results, so do the professional pollers too.
Appreciate it!
Why are we still talking about them? Gameday just did a segment on their game. Like, who cares? I think in a few years they may be good but it’s just not interesting anymore.
I think the criticism of McAfee on Gameday has been good for him. I didn’t like the zany energy he brought at first because it was way too over the top. The fact that the fans didn’t embrace it forced him to tone it down, and I think that’s made him more of a team player on the panel.
I frankly wouldn’t mind if he came back next year anymore. His rapport with Herbie is particularly good, and he does a good job of bringing the crowd into it. So long as he keeps in mind he isn’t the one and only star of the show he’s a good addition.
These are very helpful blog posts, thank you.
I skimmed the posts and saw some shortcuts about sending Things links to Obsidian. Is that the post you’re referring to? It seems that method can be adapted to a regular URL, but I’m curious your thoughts.
I don’t know what to do with ranking Michigan anymore. I honestly think they are number 1 in the country, but that may not be due to talent, it could be due to unfair competitive advantage.
The next couple of weeks will prove if they’re for real or not.
It’s nice to finally have a MAC game not on ESPN+.
Can’t wait for MACtion.
That coffin corner punt downed at the .5 yard line was incredible to behold. Not just the punt itself, but the footwork of the special teamer to stay off the goal line.
This is my first Iowa game of the year. It’s like nothing else I’ve seen yet. No wonder everyone memes them so much.
Directional Michigan as a super dog! Go MAC!
On Gameday they were showing Georgia’s remaining schedule. I’m honestly surprised by how easy it looks. Tenneseee seems to be their biggest challenge, aside from the SEC Championship Game. Hope they don’t get in the Playoffs on this schedule.
After that they talked a little bit about Washington’s schedule which is an utter gauntlet. Honestly if Washington went through that schedule with one lost I’d feel better about them in the Playoff than an undefeated Georgia.
But as we all know from the poll, /c/cfb things Georgia is overrated.
It’s this philosophy that keeps bringing me back to the Grid.
I generally love Kirk’s Watch Grids, but he seems to have a different philosophy when it comes to Bowl Season than me. I think he could have chosen at least one Watch This game per few days.
For example, Miami (OH) v. App State is an interesting game. As the MAC Champion, Miami seems to be on the rise, knocking off a Toledo that I certainly thought would win. App State is looking to bounce back to its 5 game winning streak form and show that its loss to Troy in the Sun Belt Championship wasn’t indicative of their program.
While that game is nowhere near the “Must Watch” status of FSU v. Georgia, it’s one I’ll be watching on the 16th.
Curious what “must watch” games others put on their list that might be flying under the radar.
