Yes, that’s why there’s the qualifier unlawful before violence - usually self-defence is lawful, assuming you are not repurposing the term to suit your agenda.

I’m going to take a leap of faith here and assume the “need” is for mental health problems and not physical traumas.

When you start seeing unlawful violence as a solution, you have become part of the problem. :/
