You voted for a known GOP spoiler candidate who takes money from fascists while Trump was out there openly threatening to use the military against his own people. Let’s not forget that he also said that immigrants “poison our blood of our country” as if they’re a fucking virus.

None of you third party voters, apathetics, or Trump-voting swing voters gets to pretend you didn’t know that he was a white supremacist.

You knew what Trump was planning. You chose to throw a fit instead of voting for the lesser evil, which was the only legitimate choice we had as voters.

You enabled fascism in this country because you were too immature to do the hard thing. Kamala was a lot of things but she wasn’t going to order ICE to invade our fucking cities.

  • Suse is easier but still harder than Ubuntu or Mint. The default firewall was super aggressive when I first set it up and the firewall config wasn’t all that intuitive, it took a while to make it into a usable desktop. That’s not really what suse is designed for.

That said once I got it working, it was rock solid and gaming performance was equal to or better than Windows. I only replaced it because they were talking about dropping OpenSUSE Leap, which was the version of suse I was using (it’s the stable LTS version of suse). But apparently they ended up not dropping it.

Once I got it set up it was actually a great OS, one of the best Linux distros I’ve ever used. I was very impressed by how bug-free it was. Updates never broke anything. I’m tempted to try it again next time I migrate to Linux.

The fact that it’s maintained by a German company is currently a plus, because I don’t trust American companies at all anymore. I might get worried if afd wins in Germany and starts coercing German companies though. In that case an independent distro like Debian or Debian Mint would be the way to go.

  • Nah. There isnt some huge group of people who would give their vote to Dems if Dems were pro-gun. The Dems would lose more support than they would gain. The Dems’ gun control positions are mostly pretty moderate and have majority support in swing states.

I see this pro-gun hysteria on the Virginia sub on Reddit all the time. They’re so massively out of touch with real life. They actually think that hardcore pro-gun positions are popular when they’re not, polls consistently show that large majorities of the electorate support gun control measures.

Before the election they were all screaming about how Dems were losing votes because of gun control, and then Spanberger proceeded to win by 15 points and the legislature now has the largest Dem majority since the 1970s.

  • You clearly don’t understand how hypocritical this is. We coerced Europe into being this way. It’s only in the last 10-15 years or so that we started asking them to contribute more militarily.

Our strategy against the Soviets was for Europe to hold them off while the US brought over an expeditionary force that would push the Soviets back. Europe would provide most of the financial support.

Now some Americans are acting like they ripped us off. Just more backstabbing fake grievance bullshit designed to slander democracies because democracy and pluralism are the enemy now.

From a pure realpolitik point if view, alienating Europe while they’re beginning their next rearmament era is a pretty fucking stupid move. They have three times our population and it wasn’t that long ago that Europe had the strongest militaries in the world. If they reach that point again the US will not be the global hegemon anymore and Americans won’t like that because we’ve benefited from it economically. Though at this point it’s very clear the world is better off with saner hegemony under other countries.

We’ll be falling behind China in science and engineering soon enough too. China, the EU and various middle powers are all making moves to fill the soft power hole left by the current administration. All because dipshit magas only believe in hard power and bullying people like cavemen.

  • It’s crazy how being a “leader” in tech just means latching on to the whatever the latest trend is while kissing maximum ass.

Almost none of these tech companies have their own vision anymore, they just mindlessly copy whatever FAANG or the current trendy startup does.

Just dealt with this forward deployed engineer bullshit created by Palantir. My company spent six months “exploring” this concept that makes absolutely no sense for us because we already have an established product with thousands of customers… And it took them that long to figure this out. But hey Palantir did it and they’re the trendy guys right now, so we should try it too so we can also be cool.

Not related to AI but we’re in fully brainwashed mode on that too.

  • Not realistic either. They’re already treating leftist NGOs like terrorist organizations, and private militias are technically illegal but those laws are conveniently not enforced against the far right (people have already tried to create leftist militias), so any attempt to do this would have to be fully underground. And you are up against the world’s most advanced military and police state, so good luck with that.

We’ve dug ourselves a real hole in the US, none of this stuff happened overnight. I don’t see a way out of this other than sustained political and civil resistance as seen in Hungary, who haven’t succeeded yet even after 20 years.

  • You think the feds will just let states beef up state guards now? It’s too late for that. And it would take years for anything meaningful to happen.

Americans were happy to give the president all kinds of insane powers over the last 80 years, and now we’re dealing with the consequences. Some of the worst shit Trump is doing is actually legal (def not all of course), thanks to braindead chauvinistic Americans in this country, who’ve always loved empowering strongman figures and law enforcement.

9/11 exposed how ugly and hypocritical the true American “spirit” is. That’s when many of these powers were born, especially the stupid ICE and border bullshit.
