Idk, they are notoriously mean to each other. That might be one of the few things they get, but it’s probably a lot less omnipresent.

They aren’t saying “religion bad”, that’s a strawman. The sentiment is that theocracies are bad, which seems pretty obvious. In much the same way police states are bad; there has never been a theocratic regime that hasn’t used their power to oppress other religions.

Theocracies oppress religious minorities in much the way ethnostates oppress ethnic minorities, and patriarchies oppress women and gender minorities. We don’t need to structure the state around religion like that, it’s a recipe for disaster.

We need a system of community where humans can offer that to one another. A setting where safety is a priority. That is one of the only things that weekly church service did to truly help people, have a safe space they could visit. Though even then it was only safe for people who fit in, we can do better with intentional design.

Yes cultivating patience is a great skill, but I have no interest in spending more time in line than I have to.
