  • Yaa true, I was quite surprised about this fear" fact-check" when I found out. Also, in general it’s also true on a more global scale.

Fear is a strong emotion and public fear will aways somewhat influence individuals. Imo, if you are aware enough, you might deflect most of that fear. It’s the animalistic part inside you that migh be affected because of the (evolutionary group) instict.

Added: Just realised I forgot to mention a huge caveat: Safety is a feeling which was compared to crime data. But maybe the fear people feel isn’t about crime data, but a reaction to ( geopolitical) changing times.

If so, it would be interesting to see an investigation trying to find out what and where this fear comes from, when it’s clear that it’s not crime. I do think media is partly to blame and hypothise this to be an important factor. But maybe some other unexpected reasons might become clear ( I’ll do a bit of search myself).

Update; the whole fear, media influence, immigration propaganda etc is quite complex . Basically the fear people have depends on economic status; so fear of this month’s rent or fear of the end of the world. Basically inflation, economy and jobloss.

Another take I found, is based on the assumption that European culture is depressing perse, and prefers tragedy over comedy. Europeans see many things " lacking" and wrong in this world.

    FYI some links:

  • I am positively surprised that there is a plan at all; and that subsequently, some countries have forwarded a pollution reduction plan. Though it’s clear that some countries are producing and polluting more than others, either by GDP and or per capita, it’s also true that some very poor countries ( ex. Bangladesh, Sahel region, Iran) are suffering way more than others.

Even though climate change is undeniable, some factors like responsible land, forest, water, agricultural use ( resources), but also building quality, can contribute to or alleviate disasters.

It is a complex and codependent world we humans have created, within an apperantly more and more fragile ecosystem. Who will pay, whom will receive, and how much, should be based on some clear measurable variables, but mostly it will probably all depend on political will and moral responsibility.

  • about the polish case.

“Digging into the code revealed a software trap that would disable trains if they were anywhere near a repair facility that wasn’t run by the manufacturer, Newag. But Newag used a pretty inaccurate way to determine when the trains were in a rival repair shop, which led to some unexpected consequences.”

I don’t think this is what the problem with the buses are about. Ofcourse, on the fly update and remote features are probably more advanced. But if a third party (country) has 100% control, that means you don’t have any.

  • For context according to this link they need 39 B USD, and this “dim-sum” bond is part of the Indonesian diversification strategy.

"According to the budget plan, the Government aims to raise 642.6 trillion rupiah (39 billion USD) this year to cover the deficit. This year, Indonesia has issued many other types of foreign currency bonds such as: Dual currency bonds (USD and Euro) in January and October, raising a total of more than 3 billion USD; Islamic bonds (sukuk) in July; Japanese Yen samurai bonds in June (worth 103.2 billion Yen); Australian dollar (AUD) kangaroo bonds in August (worth 800 million AUD).,

  • I agree that when posting a YT link one can not assume " everyone knows that channel or that guy", or are like " …but trust me bro." ai suggest that when posting a video link, one should consider providing some minimum context,or when in doubt a proper alt link with similar news info.

In this case, yes, the channel owner seems quite strict in his reporting methods. He divides facts and his opinion very clearly, so it is ok. These discussion can somewhat be avoided by providing context. / Edit

  • I never knew any different, as many people can easily be misled or corrupted, at least that’s my life experience. So I see it as my civilian task to always remain critical. Basically " my hope" is that the trust I do and must place sometimes, there is only so much one can do, won’t be misguided.

But yes. It’s sometime hard to keep faith and hope. So far, Europe hasn’t been too bad, but I feel we are in a critical time, and can still fuck it all up. We are not in a safe place (yet)
