  • There are some lessons here in the article that I think other politicians can learn from. We’re often baffled why some people like Trump so much. It explains how he’s able (from the perspective of a supporter) feel raw, authentic and validate their concerns.

Of course we don’t like him because we study his actions, not his words and know that the “solutions” he’s proposing aren’t going to help his supporters or help anyone except perhaps the richest of the richest or rather the very wealth people within his inner circle and even then it seems like he’s not helping the all of the rich or anybody because he’s hurting the economy which impacts us all no matter how rich or poor.

So I think the lesson is a politician who could evoke a similar feeling of authenticity without the divisiveness paired with real progressive solutions that will help the average American would do very well in an election and as president.

  • How about we not generate carbon in the first place? I’m calling for a switch from fossil fuels to electricity generated by renewable sources of energy such as solar and wind. Fossil fuels are not only directly hurting the planet via means of greenhouse gases but also profits are being spent to buy politicians and cause democratic backsliding and they were instrumental to Trump being elected and not to mention they do lots of lobbying and political interference on a global scale including in Canada. So when you import fossil fuels from U.S. companies they are paying for your own demise.

The good news is you have the power to fight back. I urge you to contact your MPs and demand a faster transition to renewable energy, no more buying fossil fuels from the U.S. and also divest from other major Republican and Trump donors. Also consider getting solar or wind for your home if that option is right for you. No fossil fuels means less fuel for Republican’s campaigns.

  • He also previously said he’s not going to donate to Trump. This is just a PR stunt, we must continue to up the pressure against Elon Musk. Keep boycotting Tesla, keep boycotting Twitter, boycott Starlink if you can (maybe if you are just on the edge of cell phone reception a parabolic antenna could help you switch to fixed wireless or 5G internet which would likely be cheaper and faster than Starlink). The stock was recently above $360, now it’s down to about $346 at the time of writing, I can’t predict the future but my feeling is that it will fall and eventually not ever come back up this high so if you or someone you know is holding Tesla stocks it will likely be a good time to divest.

  • We must increase our pressure against Elon Musk. Until he’s bankrupt or behind bars he’s still a huge threat to our country. Boycott all his companies. Sell your Tesla stock (it’s high right now I can’t predict the future but maybe it’s peaked right now), stop using Twitter if you use it. Contact pension funds and demand they divest from Tesla.

For Starlink If you think it’s the only choice for you maybe if you’re just on the edge of cell phone reception you can use a parabolic antenna to get a reliable signal for 5g internet. This will likely be lower cost than Starlink. OneWeb has a competing service but they don’t sell directly, I’m not sure how you can switch to OneWeb. Project Kuiper just launched their first satellites about a month ago. AST SpaceMobile might be an option too. If those options aren’t available to you I predict there will be more alternatives for Starlink within the coming years.

  • We have the power to fight back! Contact politicians in your country and demand a faster transition to renewable energy. The economic harms caused by climate change are far greater than the cost of switching to renewable energy.

One possible idea I had is to take advantage of global anti-Trump sentiment and urge countries especially those hit hard by Trump’s tariffs to fight back by buying less fossil fuels especially less fossil fuels from the U.S. I’m not sure if people from other countries understand just how influential the U.S. fossil fuel industry is in electing Trump and Republicans. It’s similar to how people are (unfortunately too slowly it seems) moving away from buying Russian fossil fuels.

So when you boycott fossil fuels you’re stopping authoritarian regimes and saving the planet.
