    Hello! If it is not ironic, I get how confusing this is. To enter a federated network, instead of a centralized one (one app, one stop), you have to find an access point. In mastodon, it’s called an instance, or simply a computer on which a server version of the network is installed (You use a client to access a server, and that server is linked to other likewise servers, thus making the federation). To enter the Matrix network or any kind of federated network, you have to sign up to an access point, first. All of this is very confusing for newcomers.

    So, like it’s in the works for fluffychat (a Matrix desktop client and phone app), the signing up process must include some form of directory of available access providers open for signing up. In fluffychat, I’ve seen a drop-down menu of available signing up servers ordered by spatial proximity, that looked really neat.
