Reportedly, the USS Independence signaled to the Amerigo Vespucci: “You are the most beautiful ship in the world.”

And USS George Bush met the same ship after 60 years.

For those who haven’t watched it, here is the video of the interaction: https://youtu.be/I103uB0zp6M?si=Lfirg3gQECuGzxW_

I’m genuinely curious what modern day sailors have to learn aboard a ship like this that applies to the actual work they would be doing in a real world scenario, likely not aboard one of these ships.

They are getting trained to listen to and understand the see, winds, and weather conditions, because on a tall ship you have to do that to a degree incomparable to modern, engine powered ships.

What are they training for? A pirate raid? Swashbuckling with Blackbeard?

I definitely know of Germany since a female trainee got sexual attacked by other trainees on it.

That was not part of the regular training.

          Statistically?

It kind of was. Even in 2021, about 8% of female service members reported being assaulted that year.
