A 19-year-old Indian River County local was sworn in as a deputy on Monday– but by sundown, the sheriff's office had a search warrant for his phone.

    Normally one has to be 21 since that is the legal age to own a handgun, and have 30-60 credit hours at an accredited college/university to even apply.

    How a 19 year old was accepted is beyond me.
