Today I learned the word Bucolic!

adjective: bucolic

relating to the pleasant aspects of the countryside and country life.

//

The context was (roughly) “we should leave for now, we can celebrate when we are somewhere more bucolic.” Yet again, shout out Balder’s Gate 3.

I wish I remembered the exact sentence but it was said during a cut scene and I forgot to write down more than the word at the time. Basically, we were in a shitty gross place and we did something good, but we weren’t going to celebrate till we went somewhere nicer. I don’t want to say more as they would be mild spoilers.

As I mentioned in my thread about picaresque, I play Table Top RPGs with my kids. They like to play as traveling band of mercenaries (easy for one shots) and I can use this when describing locations on their travels, such as a small town they may stumble upon. My favorite place to use these words is with my kids because then I get to teach them what it means, so this is a fantastic word!
