I thought the reason they didn’t do this before is that if you have a bad crash during the sprint you’re then fucked for qualifying, right?
Yes but apparently they now think that has to be taken as a risk in order to change the format
I wonder if this will cause much less risk-taking in the sprint, or if they’ll change it back after an incident in the sprint ruins someone’s whole weekend
It’s a good question. Though people already previously thought that drivers would take no risks in sprint, and that turned out to be false
