Today I learned the word Secondment!

noun: secondment

the detachment of a person (such as a military officer) from his or her regular organization for temporary assignment elsewhere.

//

The context was “I’m not all right with this. This is fourth secondment. Fourth time I get a load of paperwork.”

Another example sentence could be “Her involvement with this project began when she was on a secondment from the Training Department to the QA Department.”

I think this is probably not a word that I’ll get a ton of use out of, but when I heard it while watching a show last night it seemed like something I might get some use out of. My job has a program where you can take 6 months to work in a different department, both to get a better idea of the company as a whole and also to see if it is something you might want to do more long term. It is something I’ve been considering so I will have at least one or two chances to bust it out!
