I would make fun of it, if people wouldn’t be dying. Israel has massive joke potential recently. Not gonna make the same mistakes as Chaplin tho.

I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone - if possible - Jew, Gentile - black man - white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness - not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Yeah, sadly no one wants to follow Chaplins foot streps.

I’ve seen more praise for Chaplin for actually making fun of Hitler publicly where Hollywood still had business interests in Germany and wouldn’t really speak out. IIRC he got a lot of shit for it even though he showed the dramatic mannerisms and stupid ideology in full view.

He paid for the entire movie himself, as no producers would make anything that would depict Germany as bad due to Germany being a big market for American movies. Behind the bastards podcast has a great episode on Hollywood and Nazis.
