Tony is smarter? Isn’t Batman like a meme-level top tier tactician? In the whowouldwin subreddit (before I left) “Batman, with prep” was the op answer to any prompt.

Yeah and Bats even has a bunch of power armors for fighting metahumans.

I personally subscribe to the idea that he literally just dies when a super sneezes on him, but, comics aren’t about sensible physics.

Especially MCU Tony in that prototype suit from Ironman 1. He’d have been pudding from that crash.

I like how Star Trek chose to at least Macguffin the physics with the “inertial dampening fields” in the ships. Because it’s not the speed; it’s the sudden stop that’ll get ya.

It’s all about acceleration. Accelerate too fast? Pain. Decelerate too fast? Also pain.

If there’s one thing that’s true of every criminal from supervillain to street level thug it’s that they always give the authorities and vigilantes plenty of time to “prepare”, especially if it’s batman.

Plus he’s not all that great about it; plenty of others, most famously Bane, have out-prepared and/or out-planned batman.

“if batman had time to prepare” is just what people tell themselves. it‘s never really considered that if batman has time to prepare, so would his enemies because they’d know about their own crimes before they happen.

It’s basically arguing the same thing as “well batman will beat you if he jumps out from behind a corner and sucker punches you”. like yeah a lot of people would kick my ass if they get to surprise me.

and like so what’s the situation like gordon gets on his red phone and is like “batman help the penguin and the joker are going around gotham causing mayhem, destruction, and death!” “….ok. how much time do i have to prepare?”

kinda the nature of the job is that you don’t have time to prepare, without letting people get hurt or die while you’re off preparing. it’s hack writing when he’s written that way and hospital grade coping for batman fans that don’t want to admit someone could easily beat him.

Either with prep time would win. The reason Tony is kinda better than batman is because he quickly adapts to the situation, while batman can only rely on pre-planning.
