I feel like RTS games would be perfect for Tablets with proper touch input. Make the gameplay loop good and the UI easy to use with touch and I’d be playing way more than I would sitting at my PC.

Touch is garbage tier input for precision and speed. Making a Touch friendly game would require a massively simplified game, more so than consoles.

Even without competition, touch based isn’t capable of cross play, it’s farther apart than mouse and keyboard vs controller for FPS.

Well, someone already made Kingdom Rush. But we can all pretend that the British TV show “Time Commanders” would have been a great idea for table RTS controls.

I think they have the right idea, by focusing on social aspects and making campaigns/co-op first class features, not just 1v1 ranked matches.

Can I get a short review of this? Looks interesting and I’ve been itching for something like this.

Not a review but more general information for you: If you´re into RTS and have never tried a game running on the (open source) spring engine, do it now! Graphics of most are outdated but the gameplay and possibilities to customize are unmatched in the genre. Spring engine allows for both, micromanagement focused gameplay and huge battles on large maps. There are several Total Annihilation based games for spring engine but also lots of others, like WWII and Star Wars based ones for example. Beyond all reason seems to be the game on spring engine with the most pretty graphics right now, so it´s a good starting point.

          Open Source/Community made/Free.
Total Annihilation remake - though today it’s definitely more then just a remake.

My favorite genre. I feel like we’ve seen a resurgence of every other genre. Bring on the RTS games. I would do terrible things for Warcraft 4. I will definitely check this out.

I’m in the alpha, there’s an NDA so I cannot discuss anything not already public, but I can say that what they have now is good, and I’m excited for the next phase.

Heard this phrase a few times in a few different variations. I want this to be good, but I’ll remain skeptical.

I want this to be good, but I’ll remain skeptical.

Who else but the original developers would be in a position to actually make this a reality? Obviously, it’s still wait and see but I’m optimistic. Reports from alpha testers are positive. Also, both the campaign and the multiplayer will be free to play, so there will be little standing in the way to just try the game when it’s out.
