Just poking my head in after a very long absence to let everyone know that as of 3:15 today I am henceforth to be known only as Dr. Omoikiri 💪

My kid won an award today for visual arts. She received a $30 Coles gift card which she bought a packet of chips, large tub of cottage cheese and a lactose free drink.

She also got 100% on her history exam. ☺

Back from the hospital. Both positively and annoyingly, results were normal despite being in a fair bit of pain. But I will be getting a referral to a new specialist and also to a pain clinic so that’s a win.

I’m missing the pitter patter of tiny beans. I downsized to a week. It’s tempting to get Melbcat back asap but someone said maybe it’s it’s best to leave her there for a few days to settle in and get used to the cattery just so she knows it’s safe for next time.

Today I made 108 large lasagnas. I discovered a little hard lump in my hand, right where my rude finger joins on the palm side. You can move it around a bit, it’s kinda freaky. Doesn’t hurt too much but I’ll swing by a Dr next week and get it checked out.

Had to call in sick today for the first time - had a sore throat on and off, and definitely sinusey. RAT says negative at least.

Since I work around the elderly and frail, coming in sick is a no-no. But I nearly blubbered down the phone when I called in.

The house feels empty without Melbcat. I keep thinking she’s going to come looking for me in the shower or looking down so I won’t step on her. It’s probably a good chance to do things like a big vacuum and use cleaning chemicals when she’s not around but I’m still feeling like crap

Okay okay I’m playing Hot Take Thursday too.

I think trams are inefficient… they are so inflexible with rerouting, you can’t have express services, they can get majorly delayed by traffic, and because they can’t overtake, if one breaks down a whole lot get stuffed, and I still think it’s wild you often have to walk into the road to get on/off trams. And new routes are next to impossible to establish these days. I think people defend trams for the romantic charm but I think they are increasingly impractical for a city this size. Would rather see electric buses with bus lanes or fully separated light rail, not this worst of both worlds kind of thing.

Get on the beers was in my top 50 for either 2020 or 2021 (they’re the same year as far as I’m concerned lol)

The amount of country music I’ve listened to in the last year REALLY came through in my wrap up. It even gave me a little custom video from Luke Combs which he recorded for his top fans on Spotify to say thanks.

Looking at that you’d never think a lot of the time I’m listening to other things like Rap Classics 1990-2010, Metal, Classical, Dance/Electronic, Various oldies, Punk, Rock (it does say my top genre is Rock though) and whatever else tickles my fancy.

I did mine with YouTube Music and my top artist was The Beatles. Second was Ringo Starr. Third is George Harrison. Fourth is Paul McCartney. Fifth was Hail the Sun.

I just realised why The Beatles was number one at 10 hours, it was because I listened to the Anthology albums (1, 2 and 3), which are 2 hours and a half hours (give or take). And also the times I relistened to Now and Then.

God this is fucking embarrassing hahaha.

Reminder that no matter how much marketing and weird hype there is from McDonald’s and Americans… the McRib is garbage and they only bring it out once every now and then to capture the curiosity of those who fall for the hype.

VB is like the Vegemite of beers. If you weren’t raised on it as a kid, it’s basically unpalatable.

Don’t feel obligated to get there - I’m fully naturalised and I can’t stand the stuff. My first beer was XXXX. There are very valid reasons why we don’t drink those first beers again, they’re the cheapest at the bottle-o because they are awful.

Ha, don’t worry, it was all in jest - I’m much worse, I don’t even like beer at all and don’t drink much anyway so I’m pretty sure that precludes me from ever getting citizenship. 😆

My mum used to make sandwiches of it (albeit with fairly dry dal)! Also can use toast to scoop up dal instead. Toast is basically a holey second cousin of naan…

What do people do for lunches? I’m having one of those days where I want something but I don’t know what. Stare in the fridge, stare in the pantry, decide I don’t want anything but know I’ll end up eating too many biscuits because I’m hungry. And I know it makes no sense to stare in the fridge and pantry, because I know exactly what’s in there because I did the shopping!

Fry up some mushrooms, onions and sausages (or your choice of protein). Add eggs, mix vigourously. Put into warm tortillas and wrap them up.

Have a pickle/salad/sauerkraut on the side.

10 minutes from fridge to plate.

Soup and a sandwich. Both can be minimal - eg cupasoup and peanut butter. If you want to get fancy put a couple of slices of bacon in the peanut butter sammo.
