the never ending United merry go round, like Chelsea they’ll eventually rearrange into a winning combination at some point because it happens so often. until that depressing moment, happy friday to everyone on this blessed day.

Maguire outlasting Varane would not have been on anyones bingo card even 6 months ago. Fair play to him for turning it around.

United still have a serious problem in that every team and agent knows to put their prices up when they come knocking. Even bigger is that they’ve handled Sancho so badly that young players may think twice before moving there.

As a Utd fan, this would be huge for us going forward. The best teams in the world don’t sign players past their peak for premium fees. At best, we were only going to get 1 or 2 years of quality performances from them despite both earning 350k a week. Ship them out and start afresh. It might be painful in the immediate/short term but would be worth it going forward imo

And on behalf of everyone at Real Madrid, we would like to thank them for over €150M in transfer fees as a result of them wanting a new challenge.

He struggled when he joined looked overpriced, but he found himself quickly after that and was brilliant for us playing really tidily as a 6. This season it’s like he’s completely forgotten how to play in a single pivot, making some of the dumbest passes he never even thought of last season. He’s also been a couple steps slow and all of those borderline 5050s are clearly fouls/cards now. So now he plays in a double and ETH went out and bought Amrabat last minute after realizing the massive risk in midfield.

So while his discipline hasn’t changed, his quality as a player has declined considerably. Without the athleticism we’ve known him for, and tactical awareness he showed last season, he’s a shell of himself right now.

He’s probably decline but let’s be honest it’s probably more just the United effect of the past years of making every player look worse

You don’t decline that much over a summer break. There has to be more to the story that we aren’t privy to.

He already was declining by the middle of last season. If you watched the games you people would know this. This has been a long time coming.

He’s been played in a bit of a different role this year that’s seen him being an offensive threat but defensively weak. Not sure why ETH’s done this.

I don’t think he has declined that much at all. I believe it’s the slight change of tactic by EtH that leaves him isolated most of the time this season.

Shows why we pissed money on Sangare as he will go for 60m plus if he’s half decent, despite him not showing much remarkable talent with the ball he’s simply a big ass 6 which every team needs nowadays

      It’s only Bayern or Barca

I don’t think he declined but hit form later during the season (Feb - May)

He tripled his wage (by some accounts), and he’s playing for a club that has been a mess for most of the time he’s been there. I think it’s possible he’s not as driven as he once was along with age catching up to him as well.

He’s declined but not as much as it initally looks like I think.

We’ve changed how we play this year to a single, rather than a double pivot and it constantly exposes Casemiro’s shortcomings and decreasing mobility.

It’s the united DM curse. Be transformative for half a season and then fall off a cliff.

Serious answer - his form declined after those two suspensions towards the end of the season. Then this season he was sluggish and that combined with new tactics lead to gigantic defensive fragility overall. It was so bad ETH has reverted back to double pivot for now (also because of injuries).

Nah, tactics, injuries and an inconsistent backline have made his job more difficult. We’re not exactly a functional team at the moment.

More reactionary, low IQ takes from this subreddit.

He really hasn’t, ten hag simply has used Casemiro in a way opposite to what he’s good at. He’s not a singular controller, he’s made to play quick forward passes with a lot of options.

He’s fantastic (Varane and Martinez is comfortably our most comfortable CB partnership) but his fitness has been a significant concern.
