Jewish people aren’t an ethnic group any more than Christians, Muslims, Buddhists etc.
Judaism is simply a religion.
Edit: Well TIL. Apologies, I didn’t mean to appear ignorant. Thank you to the people who have pointed out my misunderstanding. I will be reading more about this and try to get a better grasp on this topic.
You are 100% wrong. The word “Jewish” has a dual meaning and you’re ignoring the more relevant one. Try consulting a dictionary sometime. Or talk to a Jew about what it means to be Jewish.
We absolutely are. Defining Judaism as a religion alone is ignorant and christocentric.
Judaism has always been a people of a singular national identity, defined by common origin, language, history, sense of identity, culture, folklore, music, clothing, cuisine, etc.

No. National identity is a relatively modern idea for any group of people. Being Jewish is being part of a culture, not a nation.
The person you’re responding to is an ass but you’re swinging too far in the opposite direction.
Fair enough. Not sure the best way to translate the concept of עם ישראל
In order to be Jewish your mother needs to be Jewish. Converted Jews are widely shunned by the Jewish community.
Anyone can convert to those other religions without needing a certain ethnicity.
“widely shunned”?
I’ve seen the opposite - welcomed with open arms.
