I can’t believe I’d rather have this chode than what’s happening now
1980-1988 : Ronald Reagan
1988-1992 : George Bush Sr (Bush Family 1)
1992-2000 : Bill Clinton
2000-2008 : George Bush Jr (Bush Family 2)
2008-2016 : Barrack Obama
2016-20?? : George Jeb Bush (Bush Family 3)
20??-20XX : Some other person
20XX-20yy : Barbara Bush JR (Bush Family 4)
This looks like a healthy way to run the country… but then again, I chose to move to Uruguay, where they’ve had at least 4 Batlles and 3 Herrerras.
The eldest son of the 30th president Luis Batlle Berres and a member of the Batlle family, he was the fourth member of the family to serve as president of the country.
The person literally just said they’d rather have Jeb than Trump, and you went into some bizarre alternate timeline… Like what the fuck are you even talking about

Does this help you understand my point? Alternating presidents between a certain family and 2 others through that much time is ridiculous
Honestly how ineffective his campaign was and his ultimate failure kinda disproves the point you were trying to make about some political dynasty.
Still would have been better than Trump. Roe would still have been destroyed, but you know ICE wouldn’t be being used as an army to terrorize the country
How are you finding Uruguay? I’m not in any hurry to move since I’ve got a kid I don’t have sole custody of (so kinda stuck in Estonia), but I know at least one friend of mine is considering Uruguay.
Depends if they can get good work. A few years ago I would have said “hell yeah, if you’re on the left come on down”, but at the moment with the software industry in the shitter, I’m stuck in my current job which is putting a damper on my perspective.
As a country, it’s great. the political atmosphere goes between center right and mainstream left, we’re (hopefully) getting over the bump in the rise of hard right ideals when the center right party was supported by the small fascist party (read more about cabildo abierto) , there is a VERY strong protest and union culture here, and migration is a fairly standardised and easy process compared to other places. You don’t need to be a citizen or resident to get a job; the tax system is more than happy to take your money just with your passport.
I recommend he make some uruguayan friends online and come visit During summer (dec-feb). It’s not all sunshine and roses, especially in montevideo (there are homeless people in the city, and it does get called “Mugrevideo”, but part of that is that the public constantly expects better.)
Well, person in question is a software engineer and can work remotely, so I’m sure she’d find a way to keep her current job. Pretty sure our country has a taxation treaty with Uruguay. Matter of fact, same for me - I was already planning on moving to the canary islands to work remotely till I had a bit of a surprise pregnancy dumped on me. For me it was the weather, not social or political reasons though. The nights are -20C and colder for the last 2 weeks, which is actually preferable to the usual muddy winters we have lately, where it’s cold even if it’s not freezing, and also muddy and nasty and dark.
What kind of income do you need to have to actually live comfortably there?

I would still choose nothing but bushes forever instead of trump.
Edit and I fucking hate the bushes

In fairness, the population of Uruguay is about 1/100 as big as the USA, all else being equal there should be 1/100 as many families as well.
3.44 Million, that’s about 1/100th!
Dumb math slip on my part! Edited
