Sorry this is in Spanish. But lots of sources are reporting that Maverick has hired Jorge Lorenzo as a rider coach.
I noticed Maverick almost falling into the arms of Jorge on the rider parade at Valencia so I wondered what on earth that was about! Now I know.
I am really not sure about this development. Maverick is notoriously temperamental, Jorge is notorious for his schemes not working out.
But hoping for the best for both of them.
Edit: yes, it is true, here is their statement. It is very small writing, so it says:
"November 21, 2025 Maverick Viñales brings Jorge Lorenzo on board as his performance coach.
Maverick Viñales is opening a new chapter in his sporting project with the addition of Jorge Lorenzo as his performance coach. The goal of this collaboration is clear: Fight for the @motogp World Championship.
Lorenzo will work alongside Viñales on a continuous basis across three key areas:
• Physical and athletic preparation, with a strong focus on routines, training, and recovery tailored to the current demands of MotoGP.
• Strategic coaching, aimed at pressure and risk management, race consistency, and decision-making during critical moments.
• Technical-sport development, reinforcing race-weekend analysis and planning.
The collaboration will be supported by a team coordinated by Lorenzo and fully aligned with Viñales’ project, with the shared aim of achieving solid, sustainable progress in the medium and long term.
Maverick Viñales explains: “Bringing Jorge into this journey is a huge opportunity to learn and improve in every aspect. His experience and outside perspective will help us take confident steps forward. I’m starting this new stage with great motivation and excitement.”
Jorge Lorenzo adds: “Maverick has always had natural talent and great speed. My role is to accompany him, share my experience and knowledge, and help him reach his best version. I strongly believe that if we improve in each of the key areas, success will be inevitable.”

Definitely not the most stable partnership :/
If it helps Mav improve then I’m all for it because I really want him to get that race win on a KTM.

I completely agree with both your points.
I wouldn’t have imagined these two working together, I thought Mav got on better with Rossi tbh, and Rossi is vastly experienced at mentoring younger riders of course.
