Yes. Evangelion is a bunch of Christian mythos metaphors, the 2nd Impact is analogous to the Rapture, the 3rd is when the Kingdom of Heaven descends on the survivors or whatever.

Aka, kills everyone’s physical forms and all our consciousnesses get merged into the Great Jungian Subconscious in the Sky, referenced in the series as the human instrumentality.

Which is the actual Abrahamic tradition of heaven, btw, returning to Oneness with God, not sitting on clouds watching your grandkids jerk it.

Evangelion is a great show, and every nerd should watch it at least once, if only so we can share the experience of saying “wtf was that” and researching the ending on the Internet.

If you have not watched evangelion, you should, it’s pretty good and pretty short (the entire series is 10h).

Spoiler for the ending of evangelion

The third impact, causes “Human Instrumentality”.
Human instrumentality is when the barrier that separates one soul from another is broken.
When that happens, everyone must face the reality of their true self and of other people.
At least four episodes in the show are mostly in this state, completely detached from the real world, exploring the mind of the characters.
