This instance is my first real foray into the Fediverse (aside from an unused Mastodon account) and it’s been smooth sailing compared to the issues some other places have suffered through.
It’s because SysAdmin does a level 10 diagnostic every day. Also the lower deckers here keep the shitposts fresh and anytime you need jamaharon you just pop on over to /c/Risa. What more could a holographic memer need?
So what I’m understanding is that the big plot twist is that we’re all holograms??! Really? Talk about predictable and boring.

Can’t even blame em. Started out in lemmy.world and switched to startrek.website the first time .world went out and someone explained to me how that works with being overloaded. Haven’t looked back sense. The local timeline is awesome, the federation is awesome. It really showcases the benefit of a federated service. It made Lemmy such a great replacement for me, whereas before I was struggling to get into lemmy.
Stories like this make me very happy to hear. When I heard the /r/StarTrek and Daystrom mods talking about joining Lemmy I’d thought bringing their reputation for positivity and tolerance to a Trek-themed instance could provide a familiar and comfortable jumping-off point for users unsure about the broader Fediverse.
Honestly it has made the reddit transition so much easier. I genuinely don’t miss reddit at all anymore since I’ve found this one. Thanks for all that y’all do!
I’ve stuck with my “main” on lemmy.ml, as I’ve had it since before the migration … but the only other “alt” I have is on startrek.website … as it should be!
The local timeline is awesome, the federation is awesome.
Also, Star Trek fans have expertise in the Federation.
Would be nice if they were some way to see local from other instances.

It makes sense why. You have a smaller instance here catering to one topic, which seems to be the intent of the developers.
This isn’t a different version of Reddit, but a collection of Star Trek related subs that would have been on Reddit.
startrek.website is insidious. If you use it long enough, you begin to like it.

They’ve been dealing with DDoS attacks for a few weeks now. If you’re on that instance, it would probably do you well to create an alt on a different instance such as lemmy.ml, sh.itjust.works, or lemm.ee that’s what I’ve been doing. Got 2 or 3 accounts I swap to when lemmy.world.is down
We’ve been targeted too by what’s probably a couple of script kiddies trying to brute force their way into our server. Not exactly a DDOS but a similar effect. Just had to remodulate the shields a few times.
