what is this 215 child graves about?
In 2021, the remains of 215 children in unmarked graves were found at the site of a residential school in Kamloops. This sparked a movement that popularized Orange Shirt Day and led to its becoming a federal holiday, now known as Truth and Reconciliation day.
The ‘hoax’ part, as I understand it, comes from the fact that people misunderstood and thought the children’s remains were found in mass graves, which is untrue. Makes no sense to me because it shouldn’t really matter whether the graves were individual or mass, the fact is 215 children never got to go home.
