It’s a flawed movie but it has a lot of redeeming qualities too. The airplane scene is absolutely top tier.
One of the thing the kills 2006 movie that movie for me is how Kryptonite is treated. Earlier in the movie its absolutely debilitating to Superman (which matches the canon), yet in the climax of the movie Superman is able to not only go near a giant island made of Kryptonite, but also lift the whole island into space with only some groaning and discomfort. I don’t like fiction universes which build rules for how its governed, but then completely ignore those same rules to move the story to completion. Would it have killed the writers to have Superman get a suit made out of lead or some other MacGuffin to arrive at a Deus ex machina to let him do what he did in that scene?
I know i owned it, but i can honestly say that i don’t even remember if i saw the entire thing.
I just saw Brandon Routh at Dragon Con!
Speaking as a happily married straight-ish man… yeah, probably would.
