The final report by the independent Minimum Income Guarantee Expert Group outlines how a Minimum Income Guarantee could potentially be delivered in Scotland using a roadmap approach, combining long-term vision with near term steps.
The Government seeks to make sure no-one falls below the poverty line again. UKGov could stand to learn from this.
Great to see the economic debate advance beyond UBI for all!!! That is clearly not a political choice currently, so minimum income advances the conversation. And gets us all thinking about benefits reform, which I’m sure anyone on benefits currently hate the current form, and those not on benefits fail to understand and hope never to be on themselves. Universalism is an important aspect to this imo, so to see us advance beyond a scroungers narrative really is setting Scotland apart from rUK
