A lot of people don’t understand the advantage of a NW face in winter. Free heat. But yes facing west is often a nightmare in summer.

I read a little while ago that tinting can actually get rather hot too. I did buy some but never got around to installing it in my last west facing rental.

The tint blocks UV and radiated heat, but still get whatever comes through the window itself actually being hot, but as for temp/electricity usage reduction from the tint in summer? Dramatic, and the weird part, in high dinner, you can have direct sun touch your skin and essential feel no heat from it, it’s a strange thing. I def recommend a good tint for heat mitigation in summer if you have windows that get smashed by the sun, plus bonus no one can see in during the day.
