Not sure if appropriate community. First time ever trying to submit anything to Lemmy. Still think this is important for everyone to read.
Are we really going to use the pics community to post blurry 144p images to talk about politics now? Can’t this be a post on any of the million politics communities instead of hijacking another general community?
I kind of agree, but on the other hand it’s quite a good snapshot. It really does capture a moment in history and the failure of a country, in all its blurredness.
If this was a photography community, I would be more reluctant. But it’s an interesting pic.
Fair point, can’t help but agree.
This is a bit memey even, so could even fit c/memes or something.
Take a look at where I originally posted it.
Wanna give me a link?
So weird. I posted it to c/microblogmemes from my lemmy.world account. The cross link is shown there above.

It’s still showing up here even though the mods there apparently took it down, said it’s not from a microblog. I guess Bluesky doesn’t fit into that description.
You can still see my comment that I didn’t know if it was the right community, first post though…
They expect the format there to be a screenshot of the post on the microblog service. Not a blurry picture and copy pasted text.
I don’t know. That photo is chilling
There’s a 1min video of what happened. You don’t need a Doctor to tell you that this cop
- has way too little or no training on how to de-escalate
- obviously gets off on holding a gun and being mean and threatening
It’s all right there, and it can be summed up with “abusive asshole”.
Not to speak of the even more obvious fact that he’s deliberately withholding ID. Cops, like most public servants, are not allowed to do that.
If they can get away with it without consequences, then they are allowed to do it. What does the law matter if it is not applied?
I can’t help but feel that sane countries have an officer’s badge number visible at all times and that it’s a fireable offence to hide it in any way.
This isn’t something that someone should have to ask for, because there’s always a chance the officer might not comply. The officers you most need to get a badge number for are the ones who are going to try to hide it.
I can understand in 2025 that telling someone your name is dangerous. That’s as true for cops as it would be for a barista, a bouncer or a librarian. People are psychos and doxxing is too easy. But, there’s no reason that the public shouldn’t know a permanent ID for a cop that could be used in lawsuits or criminal proceedings.
We used to have it. But once more people started asking, recording, and informing, the pigs started hiding them.
A librarian or a barista is not entrusted with or granted the same authority as a police officer. They should be held to different standards of accountability.
Those are some fucking They Live eyes going on there.
Not surprising considering their mantra is “OBEY”.
I think a lot of body language analysis is vibes based BS, but sometimes the vibes sure are vibin’.
I’m curious to see what LA is going to do with the clear breach of the Use of Force Directive for that weapon.
Shoot back.
