Rally and march, starting at Cal Anderson Park in Seattle. More info: https://seattleindivisible.com/events/2025/6/1/seattle-no-kings-june-14th/
In case you haven’t to been to one of these protests before, this is a big, mainstream one. Think strollers and old ladies, although I’m sure there will be some signs with naughty words on them. So it’s a good way to ease into protests and do something if you’ve finally gotten to the breaking point after seeing the shit going on in L.A.
Let’s see how many there will be and what the others excuses are.
• You know, some people have to work on Saturdays.
• I’d go, but isn’t that part of the city really dangerous?
• I’m really not sure about who’s organizing the protests.
• Saturday is my day to go bowling.
• Etc, etc, etc.
Be there. Everything is on the line. Be on the line.
I did go to the mayday protest on the 1st even though I was very hesetant. I did not do much but be part of a number, but I also did not regret it, and it made me more confident in protesting.

That’s so awesome that you went! I hope you continue protesting and fighting back (and feeling sufficiently comfortable while doing it).
Yeah some of my (straight white wealthy able bodies) former coworkers make excuses like that.
This. Unfortunately we are living in interesting times, and this administration counts on inaction.
These are also meant to be peaceful protests, despite what some night say, historically peaceful protests are more successful than riots.
While peaceful protests are awesome, and this march/rally is indeed intended to be a peaceful protest, “Riots are the language of the unheard” --MLK Jr. So personally I try not to police how people want to express themselves. I see riots as a kind of inevitable reaction… You press your boot hard enough onto the neck of a populace, and violence will be the result.
Additionally, “violence” is super subjective and often reported inaccurately in the media. Is resisting arrest violence? Helping someone else resist arrest? Is returning a smoke grenade to its owner? How about zip-tying Lime bikes together? Blocking the path of a vehicle holding immigrants?
My point is just that it’s not all black and white. (And to be clear, I don’t expect any of this stuff at the Saturday protest.)
Wow, so very well said, thanks.
I’m an absolute wimp and cursed with good manners. If someone throws a brick through a window, I’ll grab a broom and try to tidy the mess.
But I absolutely understand the brick-thrower, and they’re not my enemy.
Close friend is getting married 😭
There will be more protests!
