I loved catching the hens sunbathing in their chicken sauna. There was a piece of glass that had fallen from an old window and it leaned up against the south side of a shed. The grass underneath was killed and they loved to take dust baths and then cook themselves like this
Scared the piss out of me the first time I saw the chicken laying down with its leg and wing stretched out and her head on the ground. But when I saw she was actually ok, and then another hen went in to join her I figured they knew what they were doing
That is amazing! Animals know what they like!
I’ve gone on a bunch of cave tours, and I’ve frequently heard many caves were discovered by cows, as air coming from the openings provided them natural air conditioning!
