I am not ok with either. I wouldn’t kill either.

Pest control works differently. You are trying to kill as many individuals in a very short time span to cripple the population growth. Even if seagulls were classed as pest, killing one has nothing to do with pest control.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply you were ok with killing anything, bad wording on my part.

When is killing a pest consider pest control and when is it not pest control?

          This statement?

You are trying to kill as many individuals in a very short time span to cripple the population growth

So if a house had one rat, killing it wouldn’t count as pest control because it’s not killing many individuals?

But two rats will eventually create 100 rats. So you are kind of creating more death. Why not just kill the two rats?

If there were two and you have killed both that’s also pest control. If there were hundred and you killed two - not really.

Pests control objectives are either to

                • not allow the population to to grow or
                • reduce the overall population or
                • eradicate the population

Killing one seagull or rat if there is hundreds of them in some area achieves neither of the three and is therefore not a pest control even if seagulls were classed as pests.

Furthermore killing an animal by smashing it against a wall in front of children may mean that this person has either psychopathic or sociopathic tendencies. Thus, fucking psycho.

I don’t understand how these two statements don’t contradict each other.

                  reduce the overall population or

Killing one seagull or rat if there is hundreds of them in some area achieves neither of the three

So, we doom the man to be a psycho even though he may not be one?

                  Thus, fucking psycho.

                    What?

Killing one animal does not reduce the population of hundreds in any substantial way which could possibly be considered a pest control.

So, yeah - he is a fucking psycho. He killed as a revenge.
