This is because Vladimir Putin has absolutely no regard for the lives of Russian citizens.

He’ll send a million more if Russians don’t make him fall out of a window.

No Russian leader has had any regard for the lives of Russian citizens. Sending them to their deaths is basically their favorite pastime. It’s fucked. Russia has a beautiful history and culture, I hate that they’ve become a rogue state with no future

reminds me of COD 1 starting the soviet campaign. all the “soldiers” are kids yoinked from their family farms and loaded onto trains to go fight. your starting loadout is like 5 bullets and no gun. and there’s soviet guys whose job it is to shoot you if you move backward instead of forward

For the record, that “sent into battle with no gun” narrative is long-disproven. The Soviets had plenty of guns to give their troops, and blocking detachments generally arrested retreating troops (with the hope of sending them back into the fight) rather than shooting at them.

To be fair, a decent amount aren’t normal “fine upstanding citizens”. A bunch of them were criminals or foreigners duped into going to Russia and not given an option about fighting.

Putin’s absolute disregard for the lives of criminals and foreigners, is consistent with his absolute disregard for the lives of regular Russian citizens.

Serious question: do you think any politicians who haven’t personally served (and several who have) actually has any regard for any human life other than their own and whomever they may love?

Honest answer - yes, I think most politicians probably have some regard for human life, even if a much, much lower regard than most of us. And even those who don’t usually have some regard for what the waste of human life will get them in the history books.

Those who lack both, entirely, are exceptional, if not nearly as exceptional as they should be.

I used to think so. They eat and breathe the same pollution, whether they think so or not, and I daresay drink it. I think they just think because their sellout money buys them a better quality life longer than ours, they simply don’t value any life, at all. It’s just another means to the end of stacking paper that only holds value because they pretend, and got everyone else to pretend it does.

By definition, when you send troops into an armed conflict, it’s understood that there will be casualties.

But Russia absolutely stands out compared to the rest of the world, with respect to their disregard for their troops.

        It’s not even close.
