I was at the shopping centre earlier, paying for stuff at the fruit shop. I hear all this yelling and see a guy going nuts from a security guard confronting him over stealing something from a store. He starts shouting and causing destruction - knocking store displays over, hitting fruit and vegetables from displays onto the ground and was coming closer to me. I turn around and start pushing my trolley back from the register to get away from him. While I was turned around he picked up a giant pumpkin from a display next to the register and threw it right at the back of my head. This was a massive grey pumpkin, like a rock to the head. Now I’m sitting here with an ice pack to my head wondering why me. Thankfully no bleeding and I feel ok so far, just sore.

I reported it to centre management and made myself known to the police before I left. Surely this is some kind of assault.

      Bloody hell.

I’d definitely at the very least have someone check on you over the next few. Sometimes TBI’s can be delayed.

Eeek! Please check in at the nearest emergency hospital - head injuries and swelling inside the skull take a bit of time to develop and can be devastating. Any nausea or funny light effects or dizziness or slurred speech - call an ambulance please.

Basically, a serious head knock is equivalent to a stroke - needs to be checked out by professionals.

I booked an appointment with my local GP in 30 mins to get checked out. If they say I should go to the ER I will go. So far I feel ok, just sore and I can feel a lump. Thank you though, this is what I needed to hear!

All clear from the GP - he just said to monitor during the next 24 hours for swaying or anything else unusual, if that happens then I need to go hospital. The $110 bill for the appointment was a sting but my usual bulk billing doctor closes at 6pm and the other one in my area was fully booked, didn’t have a choice. I reckon the shopping centre management should be paying, not me.

In an ideal world, the cops will probably get footage of the incident from the store cameras which will contain enough evidence for the assault against you and other crimes, that you won’t be required in court to make the case.

That sucks for you. Consider there might be some whiplash or sore neck injury too.

Re-watching familiar tv is recommended for concussion.

What the fuck! That’s got to be assault. Glad you’re getting checked out. Hopefully no major damage done… it would be a good story to tell at parties. But seriously, hope the pain subsides soon and your brain and skull are ok.

That’s nuts. I’m glad you got out of there.

Really not good about the blow to the head though, I agree with everyone else to be very careful about that. Fingers crossed that nothing serious has happened.

His coat can be a bit much. So many things get stuck in it lol.

When brushing him he tries to groom me too at the same time too which is sort of funny and doesn’t help.

He’s going into another bath tomorrow. There’s a love hate relationship with the bath.

Didn’t get too wet out there, got through quite a bit, very satisfied. Geez I hope there’s more fieldwork coming up. When it’s easy and streamlined like this and out in the bush I’d happily keep going. Great for the mind and body.

Now it’s time to get some cat love 🥰 it’s so nice having Sox at home although I feel like she’s thoroughly bored, poor dear. It is a claustrophobic, dark and small apartment, and there isn’t even anything interesting to look at out the windows! I can’t even play with her using her toys because there’s no room to move around easily.

Breaking news: Miss Meow has trialled her window hammock. It was apparently a good place for some after breakfast grooming. She has now disapeared again, either for more box exploration or maybe just going back to bed.

Mr Woof has also successfully navigated the dog door for the first time this morning. He’s now napping on my lap, which he fully deserves after the big day yesterday - it’s very stressful for a security dog to see a bunch of people tresspass onto your territory and steal absolutely everything.

I guess this new place is officially home now, just had my first delivery. Mr Woof was not impressed that someone dared to knock on our door.

I now have a few new mugs.

Once I have cleared enough boxes to allow other people to fit inside I’ll be able to invite people in for coffee 🙂

        It mostly looks like this

But I have carved out a few livable areas, and am working on getting a few more done. Having been able to set up things like the bed frame, dining table and fridge before I moved has definitely made a big difference.

I was today years old when I first tried Marmite. It’s milder than Vegemite, and almost seemed a bit sweeter? Possibly less salty? I didn’t mind it, but will be sticking with Vegemite for the stronger flavour I’m used to.

A Bunnings trip might be on the cards very soon, I’m going to need a lot more extension cords! And I still need to get numbers for the letterbox.

I ordered a second remote for the garage door, which was not as expensive as I feared. I also ordered another security camera to go in the garage - I’m not used to having a remote opening door and I find myself fretting that it might be open any time I can’t see it. I know it’s silly, but it’s like when you have to keep checking you locked the door, my own minor touch of OCD.

Our morning walk was a bit brisk this morning, but the sun is now coming out and it’s shaping up to be a very nice day. Miss Meow has found herself a very good hiding spot in the future sewing room - if she hadn’t had her eyes open I would not have known she was there. Mr Woof is still a bit unsure about the new dog door and needs prompting to use it. I thought the security camera might have some video of him using it this morning, but all you can see is my arse as I’m leaning over encouraging him, and the audio is all me going, “that’s it, push! push!” like a crazy dog door midwife 🤣

My OH gets it occasionally and it seems to be rather random, as he’s not hoeing into the venison and red wine. I do think, with him, dietary changes can trigger it sometimes.

          Hope you’re feeling better soon

            Thanks :)

It does feel random. Not a huge red meat eater, haven’t had red wine in over a year. I did drink some very yeasty beer last weekend, so perhaps that did it. Come to think of it, my last flare up was 18 months ago, after drinking similar beer.

Guess I know what to avoid now.

I’m not sure. I don’t eat that much bread generally. If anything it’ll be sourdough, but really that’s like two maybe four slices per week.

I make pizza dough with yeast, but again, once a week…and didn’t have any this week.

The meds are kicking in, so it’s a bit better. Generally I can get it under control in like 3-4 days. Going to my GP tomorrow for something stronger hopefully. The stuff I have, works, but just barely.

Not gonna lie, next to sciatica, it’s the worst type of pain/discomfort I’ve experienced. Who knew a single toe can mess you up so badly.

Thanks again for the kind words.
