in trek, the parasites that were later replaced by the borg, was suppose to have a much bigger role in the show. trek has a problem with one episode arcs, that generate potential longer lasting pots, like the voth, the cure of the vidian phage.
sga and sgu: the shows were cancelled before a couple of new alien races plots were explored.(the alternate universe aliens, and the planet builders in sgu)
