According to the 12th amendment, “no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.”
This seems pretty plain to me: if you can’t serve as president, you also can’t serve as vice president. Of course, this has never been tested in court…
That’s interesting. When I was reading the Constitution, I didn’t read it the same way. I thought that the basic rules (age, citizenship, etc.) were what applied since obtaining office and serving office were distinct in my mind. I like your reading better but I have a feeling SCOTUS wouldn’t read it the same way you do.
