      Fuck Lost. “It’s better to never reveal the mystery!” That was the guiding principle, to just cake on mystery and keep audiences following like a laser pointer and a cat. I’m an advocate for free speech, but if someone made a law outlawing that kind of storytelling, it might cause my resolve to waver. At least Stephen King will right an ending, even if it’s the third deus ex machina in a row, you’ll get an ending!

        People forget how crazy the speculation was in those pre-streaming days. Like D&D (the Game of Thrones hacks), I think they thought they had to go in a different direction than fans guessed, or they “lost”. That’s not their job. Literal millions of people watched these shows every showing, there’s just no way that no one guesses what happens and posts it online. But their ego was bruised, so they thought they had to go a way that no one was expecting (because it made no sense: Game of Thrones), or say they wanted an unexplainable mystery (so no payoff after years of investment: Lost). The end result is ruining an incredibly popular, critically-acclaimed show…
