I’ve met plenty of decent people who have moderated for a time (at the very beginning of a community for example) or tried it and then walked away. But never someone who does it for years on end. I assume it’s because long term mods seek power they lack in their own lives because of poor social adjustment but happy to read a paper on this. I would love a platform that has collective community moderation through content flagging and voting which does away the need for mods.
