I would argue that he actually needs a transfer. The move to Madrid has been a disaster for both him and Madrid. They needed a striker and he wants to play left wing but isn’t currently better than Vini. Send him to United, Newcastle or even the Saudi league and he can reinvigorate his career somewhat. But him reaching the heights he promised looks impossible now, which is a shame.

    It’s looking a little like when preem-tier Barca under pep signed fabregas. An excellent player—one of the best in the world at the time, joining the other bests, but there was no real position for him. Xavi, iniesta, Busquets, already comprised the most stacked midfield ever. But they tried to squeeze him in because the Barca president insisted on bringing him in, so he was just superfluous to the system and was just a wrench in the gears.
