I have a bit of a dilemma. So my gym is like 42 a week because it’s “premium”, but because I’ve been sick and had a mental breakdown over the past few weeks, I haven’t been for a while.
I’m really conflicted about whether or not to try somewhere else. It’s the whole starting at a new, busier gym that’s intimidating. So it’s either a) I step it up and actually use my membership or b) suspend my membership at current gym to try out some other gyms and see which I like better.
See what the council gym option are. My local council one is amazing, about $24 a week with access to classes, 24hr gym, indoor and outdoor pool, spa and sauna.
That’s exxy. What sort of gym is this? What’s premium about it?
You could ask your gym to pause your membership for a while (I think most gyms allow you to freeze your membership) and you could get a supporting note from your GP if possible too?
I think it’s just the amenities and the location tbh. Plus they don’t let a whole heap of people join so it’s not super busy.
I think I will freeze it and find somewhere else. There’s another gym nearby that has a membership for the same price except it includes reformer pilates. Except the gym kind of has bad reviews.

Anyone had experience switching gyms?
Can they pause the membership due to medical reasons?
Get it in writing, gyms are notorious for dodgy contracting.
I’d go to my local gym if there was a per visit fee but there’s some whacky contracting and many complaints on google reviews (Crunch gym).
