Probably not the best time for this topic as we’re heading into cold weather, but…

do you drink cold brew? What teas do you use for cold brew? How long do you steep in the fridge? Do you start with room temp water or cold water?

Cold brew is fantastic for making cheap tea taste good. I use 5 bags of Lipton for half a gallon of RO room temp water and let it steep for at least an hour. For best results steep overnight.

The resultant tea will be flowery and light with no bitterness because the tannins don’t come out in cold water.

Room temp water. I throw it in the fridge at night and it’s ready by morning.

Anything would work really but I personally stay away from really light, soft, delicate teas for this… I like using stronger mint blends, Chen Pi, some Taiwan oolongs, genmaicha, etc…

Green tea for the win here!

I use “stronger” green teas, let them steep overnight in the fridge starting with room temperature water. If the tea is very simple pr not that great, I add some random fruits and a bit of lemon. Maybe that’s heresy, but it’s good heresy.

I’d recommend using a cheaper tea as others have mentioned. Not as much of the hot tea character will come through. I guess it’s similar to cold brew coffee in that regard.
