I mean, good call, Canada.
Red states are dangerous for any nonwhite male. Women? Traveling to a red state and get raped? Whelp better hope you don’t find out that you are pregnant while still in the state. LGBTQ+? Whelp, better hope no one knows your sexual identity or you could be denied life saving medication or could be jailed for simply using the wrong bathroom. Black? Whelp, people are literally hunting you while you try to pick up snacks at the local dollar general.
This comment is hyperbole.
A lot of states with those laws probably also have “Stand Your Ground” laws and loose guns regulations, so really nobody should go there.
And as a blue blooded, god feering, gun toting, truck driving, steak eating, pussy grabbing, anti-woke, America first, patriot like myself that is exactly what we want. -s
The actual risk of being effected is still pretty low.
also have “Stand Your Ground” laws
What exactly do you think these laws mean?
Trayvon Martin
What about him?
It eases the legal requirement to run away when someone attacks you, as opposed to fighting back.
Edit: Oh, that was rhetorical.
Those laws basically say it’s OK to shoot someone if you feel threatened. You can practically get away with murdering someone for looking at you the wrong way.
That’s not at all what they say. They “basically” say that you don’t have a duty to run away from someone who is actively attacking you.
Fine, maybe I misinterpreted why people think it’s OK to shoot at people for knocking on their door or pulling into the wrong driveway. I still don’t want to go to places where people are likely to do that.
That’s not a realistic fear. Certainly not something worth putting out a public notice about an entire country of 300 million people.
It happened several times in the last year, I’d mark it as realistic.
“Several times” across a country with 300 million people? That’s nothing but paranoia. You’re significantly more likely to be struck by lightning.
So Canadá is going to let trans people get treatment with informed consent model, right?
Right?
Some of our states are really good for trans people. A map of which regions yo avoid would be far more helpful than a blanket warning.
They already do allow trans care via informed consent.
Healthcare is under provincial jurisdiction, therefore this varies depending on where in Canada. My province doesn’t offer informed consent HRT.
Erin Reed maintains a pretty good one:

This is the best summary I could come up with:
Anti-LGBT protests in the US rose 30-fold last year compared with 2017, while legal moves to restrict LGBT rights are on the rise.
The term 2SLGBTQI+ is widely used in Canada for people who consider themselves two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning or intersex.
“Since the beginning of 2023, certain states in the US have passed laws banning drag shows and restricting the transgender community from access to gender-affirming care and from participation in sporting events,” they told CBC News.
In March, Tennessee’s governor signed laws banning drag performances in front of children and restricting medical treatment for transgender youth.
Two months later, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed bills banning children from undergoing transgender medical treatments or going to drag shows, and restricting pronoun use in classrooms.
On Monday, a mural in Florida dedicated to Irish journalist Lyra McKee, who was shot dead in 2019, was defaced with a swastika and anti-LGBT graffiti.
The original article contains 349 words, the summary contains 154 words. Saved 56%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
Global Affairs Canada warned
Is this an NGO or a GO?
GO. It’s a Federal Government department that is jointly run by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of International Development, and the Minister of International Trade. Putting out travel advisories is part of their mandate.
Most Canadian GO follow a [Purpose] Canada naming scheme. If you want a SIN (equivalent to an SSN) you got to Services Canada. You get your weather warnings from Enviroment Canada. Drugs are related by Health Canada. Natural Resources Canada does the obvious. Parks Canada does National Parks. Transport Canada does highways and waterways.
I mean, stay the hell away from Florida and you should be ok.

Yeah I don’t believe that lol, tf is that nonsense if a term
2SLGBTQ is a common term in the queer community where I’m from.
definitely learned a new one today…Two Spirit on Wikiwand
When speaking I always try and say LGBT+, the “+” being everyone else. Or just queer, which is a decent cover-all on it’s own. The ever longer acronyms get in the way of the point.
What “risks” are they talking about?
Does the US need to put out a warning to disabled travelers? Go to Canada and they will tell you to kill yourself.
2SLGBTQI+
I wonder how many fucking numbers and letters they will keep adding over the fucking years.
Gay people talk shit about it 24/7, it’s becoming a fucking joke of a name.
Edit: Random fucking morons attacking me and calling me a bigot, you are truly a bunch of imbecile.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think even the LGBT+ community gets annoyed with it. It’s the media that seems to want to keep adding letters to this ever-growing acronym.
In my opinion, it just makes the whole thing seem more like a joke to the people who want to find reasons to dislike the movement.
Which is apparently working, looking at the upset boomers in comment chains like this one.
People who are homophobic or transphobic don’t care what terminology we use. We could literally only use the word “gay” and they would absolutely continue to hate us.
Also, the use of progressive terminology originates within the queer community. 2SLGBTQ as an acronym began being used specifically to acknowledge two spirit people, who have faced a great amount of racism and queerphobia even from within the queer community. This term was neither invented by the media nor popularized by it.

Numbers and letters over the years:
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself”
Galations 5:14
“Be genial, sweet and kind towards your companions.”
Mino-ī-Kherad, II.7
“For my people are foolish; they know me not; they are stupid children; they have no understanding. They are ‘wise’—in doing evil! But how to do good they know not.”
Jeremiah 4:22
I’ve been saying for years if we just said queer and trans we could pretty much capture the whole thing. In a lot of ways I think straight cis folks and corporate culture are some of the main drivers of the alphabet soup acronym because they can’t imagine saying queer.
in addition, its okay to just say lgbt. none of us are expecting people to remember that whole thing
i typically say lgbt+ cuz i like being positive (hehe), but it matters much less than some folk will make it seem

- for other categories doesn’t suffice, we also need * to represent, by wildcard, those that don’t fit any category, as well as - for those who fit the other letters/symbols but don’t want to identify with the rainbow mainstream (say, gay folks who aren’t fans of gay marriage)
